In The Lockdown - Yes! and a bit of Yellow
Bees in my garden
Insects are not my cup of tea
and usually I will run a mile from bees.
But in the lockdown while walking through my garden,
I found some bees buzzing and filmed them
I kind of lost a little fear of them.
If you aren't a threat to them,
they pretty much leave you alone.
I am writing this a day before this post will be released.
Today is April 28 2020 and today is the first day New Zealand has moved from a full lockdown (alert level 4) to alert level 3.
NZ has contained the virus but our Prime Minister still alerts us that we need to be very vigilant so that it does not get out of control.
Level 3 means that socialising isn't much different - we still stay home and largely within our household "bubbles". We can expand them a little if absolutely necessary.
But the economy opens up a little - non contact trade can start and people can return to work but only if they can't work from home.
Schools open up for primary and secondary schools for children who can't be supervised at home. In New Zealand children under the age of 14 can't be left unsupervised.
Malls, playgrounds, gyms, libraries, theatres are still closed. We can move out of our houses for essential items or for walks etc but we need to remain local and maintain the 2 meter distance.
Restaurants and cafes can trade only for takeaways.
So Yes! New Zealand has started on its path to economic recovery.
Today I leave you with this song from the movie Prince of Egypt. When You Believe is a song of hope and miracles. We need them both. I pray that soon we will find a safe and effective vaccine, an effective treatment and cure.
Many nights we've prayed
With no proof anyone could hear
In our hearts a hopeful song we barely understood
Now we are not afraid
Although we know there's much to fear
We were moving mountains long before we knew we could.
There can be miracles when you believe
Though hope is frail it's hard to kill
Who knows what miracles you can achieve
When you believe, somehow you will
You will when you believe.

Even if the lockdown isn’t completely lifted it is heartening to know that maintaining social distance is up to individuals rather than State mandated . Even in my neighbourhood things seem to be limping back to normalcy with the baniya promising to get ice cream soon
ReplyDeleteYes ;) Here in France we have 2 more weeks of lockdown. Then schools will open, but they just find that a new disease is hitting kids, no we will probably stay a little more at home...
ReplyDeleteY is for Young
Such a wonderful song by two brilliant artists, thank you, haven't heard it in a while.
ReplyDeleteYay for a partial lockdown lift! You're a little ahead of us. We will learn today if kids go back to school starting May 11. Since yesterday hairdressers are allowed to open their salons (and I have my appointment tomorrow). Also gardening centers re-opened, which is important for many people around here. After all it's spring!
