Thankfulness - Gratitude List - Linkup 7

Written for the Alphabet Salad Gratitude Linkup

And Gratitude or Thankfulness also ties in very nicely with the letter T at ABC Wednesday

So here's my list (in no particular order):

1. Thankful that I passed my full driver's license test. Sitting academic tests is easy-peasy but driving tests is a hard task for me. But it went so well and at a point during the test I actually found myself thinking, I'm really enjoying this.

2.  Thankful for a random act of kindness. I got a free cheese scone because they forgot about mine in the toaster, made me wait a long time and then eventually found they burnt it! - So I got a brand new scone, beautifully toasted and my money back.

3. Thankful that I have finally learned to receive. If the cheese scone incident had occurred a year ago, I would've insisted they keep the money. But my word this year "Abundance" had changed my perspective on things. I've finally learned that in receiving we bring joy to the giver. Refusing their kindness robs them of the joy of giving. Abundance also comes in small packages and when we receive graciously we also send a message to the Universe that we are open to receiving. And so the abundance flows!

4. Thankful that the fire alarm at work turned out to be nothing significant. Also thankful I work on one of the lower floors so it's not a long way down to exit the building.

5. Thankful that my daughter and her boyfriend dropped by and cleaned my car.

6. So thankful that my blog has been given awards from some awesome bloggers - but that's a post for another day.

And this quote jumped out at me today

The thankful heart will find, in every hour, some heavenly blessings
― Henry Ward Beecher

Write your own list and share it below.

Have a day when the abundance just flows your way.

So You Think You Know It All

Written for  the Write Tribe 100 words prompt and the letter S for ABC Wednesday

"So you think you know it all"

I don't know how many times my mother said that to me and at the time I looked at her and thought she was crazy. Of course I know it all!

Then the years went by and I had my kids. Then I caught myself saying those words and getting the "mom is crazy look". Of course we know it all.

And now I can't wait for them to have their children so they can say the same words and get back that "you are crazy" look.

And I will watch and chuckle.
~x~

Have a fun filled day with lots of chuckles.

Gratitude List - Linkup #6

Some days the inspiration just dries up and I move into a blogging hiatus.

Then suddenly things start to show up and I have an epiphany.

So today there were gratitude posts and pages showing up everywhere and something inside told me I needed to get back into my gratitude posts. I did many gratitude series when I started blogging and perhaps it was time to get back into that.

So here is my gratitude list (in no particular order)

1.  Grateful for friends who uplift - I needed that a lot.

2.  Grateful that my work contract got renewed and I was back at work last Monday

3.  Grateful for a sense of humour - helped me get through a difficult moment

4.  Grateful that I had some time to myself today - quiet time is a luxury - a time to sit in silence and reflect

5.  Grateful that all these gratitude posts showed up and inspired me to write again - amazing how the Universe gives you that little unexpected nudge to get things going again.

6.  Grateful that I enjoyed a special birthday with my son (read about it here)

7.  Grateful for lots of hugs - a hug is so therapeutic

8.  Grateful that families of all my Filipino friends are safe.

Sharing a quote that also jumped out at me today

Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it
~ William Arthur Ward

Pages that came into view today:
Gratitude today
Cattitude and Gratitude
Everyday Gyaan - Living Gratitude Series
Alphabet Salad's Gratitude List - where I am linking this post

So write your own list and link up below and also link up at Corinne's Sharing Gratitude post

Enjoy your day.

Que Sera Sera from a Quatrain

Written for the letter Q at ABC Wednesday

One of my favourite poets is Rumi and I often browse through his poems. Today I came across this one, Rumi's Quatrain no 5.

May the lover be drunk and disreputable the whole year!
May he be crazy, frenzied, and love-sick!
With sobriety, we suffer anxiety about everything.
But when we have become drunk, whatever is to be, may it be!

On some days one can read a poem and interpret it in quite a different way from what the poet intended it to be. I guess that is the beauty of poems. Each one finds a different meaning in the words, perhaps even different on different days.

Today the last 2 lines stood out for me on many fronts and reminded me that being anxious does not change the result of the outcome. Hence it is best to go with the flow, detach from the outcome because, que sera sera, whatever will be will be.

I really needed to remember that today!

And here it is ... Que sera sera - nicely sung by Doris Day.

Reticent Retinue

My 400th post ...

It was a cool Autumn day and Suzy stepped out of her office with a spring in her step. It had been a while since she had taken time off, but now her holidays had begun.

She breezed along the road lost in her thoughts of the upcoming trip and didn't notice that she came to the edge of the busy intersection where the pedestrian lights were clearly indicating that it was unsafe to cross. But her mind was on the holiday and like sheep she was ready to step out along with some other daring pedestrians.

But one thing she didn't know was that they were being watched.

Somewhere behind her she heard the sound of voices "We must stop" rang out loud and clear. Her brain jerked back into the present, into reality and her foot stopped in mid air. Suzy took the step back onto the curb just as the car came hurtling down the road. Her heart was pounding, as if she had stepped forward, the car would have knocked her and sent her flying. She looked heavenward gratefully and sent a silent thank you to the ladies.

~x~

The above is a true story. I might not have been alive today if my loving and divine guides had not been watching over me. I am convinced that my ever watchful guardians made those ladies voice out the words that then jolted me back to the present.

Every moment of our lives we are being watched by our guardians from the other side. They gently take care of us and guide us through life and when we inadvertently put our lives in danger, they swiftly step in and protect us.

Guidance comes to us in so many ways - through music, through the written words, through the spoken word, as thoughts, as visions. And undoubtedly the guidance comes in the most appropriate way as it did that day when all I suddenly heard was "stop" and luckily I did.

I am so grateful for my "reticent retinue" of guardians who watch over and take care of me.

"On their hands they will bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone."
~ Psalm 91:12

Also linking to the letter R at ABC Wednesday - I wrote this post with the letter R in mind only forgot that Q comes before R - had to hold out before I posted. Sigh - one of those days!

Private Procrastinations

Written for:
Write Tribe's 55 on Friday's prompt by Vidya Sury and
For the letter P at ABC Wednesday

The crowded shelves, even the hushed silence is comforting.
The books feel friendly and reassuring.
Parting is such sweet sorrow but books never leave.
Like a faithful friend they cheer her up and take her into her world of fantasy, leading her away from the turmoil within her perturbed heart.
Private procrastinations, peaceful and priceless.

55 fiction is the art of creating a complete short story in exactly 55 words.

Every now and then I come across a post that I absolutely love and  this one for the prompt by Proactive Indian is one of those. Very clever post and truly made me chuckle.
