Write Tribe - 7x7x7x7

7x7x7x7 is the prompt this week at the Write Tribe.

What is the 7x7x7x7 Writing Prompt?

  1. Grab the 7th book from your bookshelf.
  2. Open it up to page 7.
  3. Pinpoint the 7th sentence on the page.
  4. Begin a poem/a piece of prose that begins with that sentence
  5. Limit it in length to 7 lines/7 sentences.

So here goes ...

The seventh book on my Kindle bookshelf turns up as:
"By The River Piedra I Sat Down And Wept" by Paulo Coelho.

And the 7th sentence on the 7th page:

"But that moment exists - a moment when all the power of the stars becomes a part of us and enables us to perform miracles".

That is the moment when I know I'm on my way

That is the moment of sweet aloha

That is the moment when dreams so long denied can flourish

That is the moment when I cross the river in style

That is the moment when my heart is free from all care

That is the moment when harmony and understanding, sympathy and trust abound and the mind is truly liberated.

When I know I'm on my way - from "This is the moment" Jekyll and Hyde

Of sweet aloha - from "Hawaiian Wedding Song"  Aloha is more than a greeting, it means compassion, peace, affection, mercy. It is a spiritual emotion.

When dreams so long denied can flourish - from "A time for us", theme song of Romeo and Juliet

I cross the river in style - from "Moon River"

My heart is free from all care - from "A Summer Place"

Harmony and understanding, sympathy and trust abound and the mind is truly liberated. - from "Aquarius"

Why I Write

"When you do things from your soul, you feel a river moving in you, a joy" ~ Rumi

I write to share the insights of my soul and hope that someday somewhere someone will feel that river of joy move in them.

I write because I can connect to other worlds and live my dreams through my words.

I write so that I can chronicle my life and perhaps someday I will come back to my posts and live some moments again.

But most of all I write because when I do, I feel that river of joy moving in me.

Written for the Thursday Writers Post  This week's prompt is hosted by Corinne Rodrigues at the Write Tribe.

The Elusive One

Happy Birthday to the Indiblogeshwaris - a group of Indian bloggers from all around the world.

The theme to celebrate our first birthday masterminded by BlogwatiG was "The Elusive One" and the instructions were:

Turn it or twist it the way you look at it. Take on a challenge. Adopt a good habit. Get rid of a bad one. Change something. Write a new chapter. Read a new book. Listen to a new song. Anything, almost anything singular that you've been putting off for too long. You have a month to do it and then tell us about it.

Unfortunately for me, the singular something that needed to be planned and then carried out is in itself The Elusive One - I can never pin down a plan.

As soon as I start to plan on something, I can almost be assured that the Universe will have it's own plan. If I go right, it will almost inevitably yank me to the opposite side and it takes intense delight in derailing my best laid plans. So instead I decided to go with the flow and see the month of May evolve ...

I read a romance novel after what seems like hundreds of years. Paula Martin's Her Only Option was a delightful read that's set in Egypt and that made it a little more interesting and romantic. I never thought I would read a romance novel again particularly since most of my reading in the last 10 or so years has been of a spiritual nature. It was refreshing and joyful to read something so different and light hearted.

About the middle of March this year I started up a poetry blog with no plan again in mind. Poetry for me is something that I write spontaneously - some months the words just overflow and then for months sometimes years, the creative thoughts dry up and hide somewhere. So whenever a prompt brought forth a torrent of words, I went with it. And then I stumbled upon "Verse First". I wasn't sure if I could keep up the momentum of posting each week but the creative juices just seem to flow and the comments kept coming - great encouragement for me to keep going. So here are my May Poetry Posts - I managed a post a week.

Photography is a great passion of mine. I've held a camera in my hand ever since I can remember. It's a real test of will power to not walk into a camera shop or buy a camera online. But my trusty little Canon S-80 was getting a little tired and I've been contemplating buying a new camera. But something or the other would come up and the camera would take a back seat. Then in the last week of May, the camera I had my eye on was advertised at half price and so I grabbed it. And with it a Nikon (also on half price) for my son.  Here's a pic I took with the Nikon on the last day of May. Couldn't resist taking it. The sky looked so spectacular.

I believe that when the time is right, things fall into place or come together.

And that is so true of the Indiblogeshwaris or at least for my linking in with this awesome group of ladies. My heartfelt thanks to Corinne Rodrigues who blogs at Everyday Gyaan for introducing me to the group. The support I've got from them is phenomenal. Thank you beautiful ladies.

And thanks to Garima Obrah for this awesome collage.

Have a beautiful day.

Rose petals at your feet

I walk towards you, rose petals in the palm of my hand. I do not know who you are as I cannot see your face. The light is dazzling and it blinds me.

Something compels me to walk towards you, propels me towards you. I am drawn into a strong vortex like a magnet that pulls me in.

My heart beats fast and strong and yet I am calm and serene. Does that make sense at all? Probably not in this physical plane of existence. But somewhere out there it all makes sense.

Perhaps at the back of my mind I know of your existence or perhaps it is my soul that recognises you. In this moment, however, it matters not.

I crouch low and place my rose petals at your feet. I know not why only that I must. At the very moment when my hands touch your feet, I feel the joy surge through my veins, I feel your power and your love.

I look up and behold the most beautiful face one can ever imagine. Your mesmerising eyes take a hold of mine and in them I see my entire existence, the world and the universe. And in that instance I know that I have lived a multitude of lifetimes in many dimensions and many universes with you.

You speak, but I cannot hear the words. You pick up a petal and place it in my hand. A gift to remind me of a moment sublime.

The beep beep beep of the alarm clock shakes me out of my reverie. I slowly open my eyes and smile. Was that real or was that a figment of my imagination? Was that a dream or did I travel somewhere into another world?

I realise my fist is tightly clenched, I slowly open up my fingers. A single rose petal lies in my hand and its fragrance is intoxicating.

The events of the night replay like a fast paced movie. I am in heaven and my joy abounds. But what did you say? Oh what did you say?

Then the words "Blessings to you"  flashes across my mind.

Here's hoping dreams do come true for me and you.
