In The Lockdown - News Fact or Fiction? Nature rejoices
Sparrows enjoying quiet time on my tree outside my window.
More birds are appearing now than I've ever seen before.
While we are in our cages, Nature rejoices.
We are gettig a lot of different and sometimes contrdictory information from many sources.
My whattsapp feeds are constantly bombarded with all kinds of items and my facebook feed is the same.
Then we have the media throwing information at us.
So what is fact and what is fiction? Hard to tell.
We should use our common sense and do our own research. Review what you receive to determine if the information is endorsed by an official body.
Or if you are sent medical information, supposed cures, check them out with a doctor before believing what you read or trying out some medication or nonsensical cure because you could be doing more harm than good.
We need to be responsible and not forward information on that isn't verified.
We are lucky in New Zealand that our government is not overloading us with information but not hiding anything either. The media here is not just focussed on the negative so that is a great help too. We have sources we can rely on.
Find a source you can rely on.
Today I leave you with this song from Nat King Cole. This is one of my favourite songs and depicts the simplicity of life when one is in tune with Nature.
When it's twilight on the trail
And I jog along
The world is like a dream
And the ripple of the stream is my song
When it's twilight on the trail
And I rest once more
My ceiling is the sky
And the grass on which I lie is my floor ...

You are absolutely right. We should simply not put out unverified information on public medium, and we should not pass on something that is not verified.
ReplyDeleteI am glad that in NZ you have a good system as far as sourcing of information is concerned.
New Zealand has the most sensible government in the world
ReplyDeleteGood to have media to rely on. Sprayding unverified sources is a real danger. Keep a sharp and critical mind!
ReplyDeleteN is for Nature
Common sense is good advice for sure!
ReplyDeleteThe other day I saw a meme, actually it was more of a fact:
What Do Countries With The Best Coronavirus Responses Have In Common? - Women Leaders. Your country is one of them.
My N is for us Swiss 🇨🇭people being neutral and neat.

In India, we have watsapp groups spreading incorrect information and fake news mthata why it is essential to fact check before passing on info.
ReplyDeleteIt's not easy sorting the wheat from the chaff, and what we need is information not speculation.
ReplyDeleteN is for ...
Fake news and incorrect information through WhatsApp is so rampant these days. We must be vigilant and check information before believing or acting on it!
