The Letter A at ABC Wednesday
The prompt:
Write about one such movie that you watched in 2013, that touched your heart. It can be a movie of any genre- drama, musical, thriller, action, spy, anything. The only condition being that you must highlight at least one such point in your post that shows how the movie made a connect with you. How it spoke to you!
In case you are not a ‘movie’ person, never mind at all! Write about a book you read this last year, which you think, if turned into a movie would be a blockbuster.
In 2006 when in a state of "what shall I read now", a friend handed me her copy of "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho. I couldn't put the book down and soon after went out and got my own copy. And last year I got the kindle version of the book.
The book takes you on Santiago's personal journey to find his treasure, to fulfil his personal legend. His journey starts when he has a recurrent dream. The boy has many strange adventures and learns to read the signs of the Universe. A beautifully written book that can be read as an interesting story or if you dig deep you find many hidden gems of wisdom, and spiritual lessons.
I've lost count of how many times I've read this book. And there are many treasures in this book. But each time I read it, the one jewel that consistently jumps out for me is that the Universe gives us clues all through the journey of life. We don't always listen but when we do and learn to decipher its clues, we uncover great treasures.
I would love to see a movie made from this book. It's a very easy book to read and it had everything - interesting characters, adventure, mystery, a wee bit of romance as well.

I have never read this book, but you make it sound so fascinating I think I will simply have to find me a copy and read it soon! ♥

DeleteThis is one of my favourites too Suzy <3
ReplyDeleteHigh 5 Privy.
DeleteThis is my fav book too and I so agree with you that every time you read it, you come across some new thought or some newer pearls of wisdom.
ReplyDeleteYay Shilpa. And isn't it amazing what new things we learn each time we read it.
DeleteThe book must have had an amazing affect on you to read it so many times. I love that quote about the universe working to give you what you require.
ReplyDeleteIt has some amazing spiritual lessons. I believe the urge to read comes when the Universe wants me to glean something new from it.
DeleteThis book is on my "to read list" for 2014!
ReplyDeleteGlad it is Sophie. It's a great book.

ReplyDeleteIt's an awesome book Richard. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteI know a lot of times people have hit me for saying this but I don't enjoy Coelho so much. Of course alchemist is one of his most famous books. I don't know why but I don't like him much :D Having said that I personally feel maybe I would prefer a movie based on his writing, perhaps?
ReplyDeleteRicha
We all have different tastes Richa. His Aleph was supposed to be such a hit - I couldn't finish the book. I think the Alchemist would make a good movie.
DeleteAs I'm always on the lookout for a good book, I'll check this one out.
ReplyDeleteLeslie

Thanks Leslie. I enjoyed it heaps.
DeleteIts a very influential book and one of the many I haven't got around to reading, yet. I remember hearing recently that Coelho has given permission for it to be filmed, but whether it gets to the screen is another matter.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that Joy. I hope they do make a movie. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteSounds interesting.
ReplyDeletePer your prompt, I liked American Hustle (though in fact I didn't see it until 2014.)
