Day 14 Ultimate Blogging Challenge
Oprah's 11th (and final) Question
An Amendment to the Bucket List
Does anyone else out there get stressed out by bucket lists? You know, you look at the list you stuck to your fridge, thinking it would inspire you, and instead you find yourself plunged into despair because you not only have no idea what to make for dinner but also are totally never going to skydive over the desert, and you know it. You don't even really want to anymore! Here's a revolutionary idea: Amend the Life List. Cross off skydiving if you like; just be sure to add something new.
Okay, I don't have a bucket list. The Universe just shakes its head at me each time I write a list. It constantly reminds me that it has a plan all of its own and any plans that I make are swiftly erased by that great hand in the sky.
I dream, and I set an intention and then I wait for the Universe to present whatever it is I am meant to experience. I've learned to trust it and I've learned that its list is infinitely more delightful and exciting than mine.
My list is being constantly amended by the Universe and I go with the flow. It has simplified my life and brought it peace, contentment and unimaginable experiences.
Wish you a day when you are in harmony with the Universe

A great way to see life Suzy. Who needs bucket list when life keeps throwing all sorts of things at you. Perhaps keep a bucket to only collect them :-)
ReplyDeleteRicha
Exactly right Richa. It would have to be a pretty large bucket!
DeleteLike you, I feel it is pointless to make bucket lists although I have made them in the spirit of various blogging challenges. I would rather let fate take its course and live each day as it comes. ♥
ReplyDeleteExactly Kathy High 5 - why take on the added pressure and stress of then fulfilling bucket lists. Just enjoy life.
DeleteVery true Suzy. The universe conspires to make sure it takes you down it's route and not the other way around. But then we all do also wish for things don't we ? Or rather think of like a goal. You can't plan the route but just that you must somehow reach there. If not, we're all travelling rather aimlessly :) Of course having an aim or a bucket list in this case is no guarantee either. Great words of wisdom from you.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sid. I prefer to dream and set intentions and then just let the Universe do it's work. We never travel aimlessly - the Universe takes care of that!
DeleteHow inspiring. I have always loved the word Maktub. And you are so write...it is okay to amend the bucket list and keep adding new things. I don't have a set list too. But I don't mind. Love
ReplyDeleteThanks Sugandha. Glad you found it inspiring.
DeleteI adopt the same philosophy, Suzy! Love the way you've expressed this and I'm going to borrow the word 'maktub' from you sometime soon! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Corinne. So much easier to go this way. I love the word Maktub. It makes everything make sense.
DeleteAs somebody said - “If You Want to Make God Laugh, Tell Him Your Plans.”
ReplyDeleteGood one Mina. Thanks
DeleteDon't feel bad Suzy, I also don't have a bucket list :-)

Oh I don't feel bad at all Carol. It is liberating to not have a bucket list.
DeleteI don't really have a bucket list, but if there is something I want to do, I start making plans and taking the necessary steps in my life to attract it. And if things start going into a different direction, then that's okay, too.
ReplyDeleteGreat post, Suze!
Blessings.
Penny
Thanks Penny. That's the key isn't it - to attract it into our lives. Very well said :)
DeleteBucket lists tend to change and change....it's our only constant!
ReplyDeleteThat is so true Michelle - hence I don't have one. The Universe wants to write mine so I let it.
DeleteWith or without these lists.... life is awesome if you enjoy it :)
ReplyDeleteVery well said Sheethal. :)
DeleteI agree..even I dun have a bucket list and dont plan to make one too ... I also believe in maktub ...and I totally believe that it is mine I will get it...
ReplyDeleteThanks Shiva - you hit the nail on the head - Maktub - when it's written, it is already ours.
DeleteAwesome read early in the morning Suzy... the picture, the quote by Paulo Coelho and the entire post make such a complete picture that it left me with a smile on my face.
ReplyDeleteWishing you many such smiles today :)
Thanks Privy. So glad it brought a smile to your face. Enjoy your day.
DeleteGo with the flow... Love your philosophy in life, Suzy! And Maktub is sooooo very true. Thanks for sharing about this term!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Shilpa. going with the flow has taken the stress out of my life. Yes, maktub - such a fab word - maybe I'll make it my word for 2015.
DeleteThat's a nice way to live...leaving things to the universe and going with the flow. Having said that, I still have lists but they are not anything massive...I had a 30 by 30 list and now I have just made a 35 by 35 list. It's just a way for me to live life. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Psych Babbler. we all live life our own way. If lists is the way for you - then that is the way!
DeleteThat's a nice thought leaving things for the universe to weave its magic and just take it as it comes :)
ReplyDeleteSure is Nabanita. takes the hassle out of life.
