Love is in the Air - Human Headsets

Day 8 A to Z Challenge 2015 - Human Headsets

Kings and princes from far off lands
Full of arrogance and pride
Came to seek Sita's hand
The bow to lift they tried

Sita watched with anxiety
Each failure a relief
Beseeching Rama silently
To make true her desired belief

King Janak had placed a difficult test. Only the one who would lift Shiva's bow and string it, could have the hand of Sita. King Janak wanted to ensure that the man who would marry Sita was truly worthy of her. Sita was his treasure and he believed that only someone who was extraordinary could lift the bow.

Many came to win Sita's hand and seeing the bow thought that this was an easy test to win. They came in their finery, handsome men of great prowess. But Sita saw none of that and their arrogant demeanour, was a complete turn off for her.  She cared not for materialistic riches, only of the soul within. Human headsets are so different from spiritual ones.

And Sita had already given her heart to Lord Rama. He looked radiant and magnificent. His inner glow shone through, soft yet commanding. He brought tranquillity and he was mesmerising.

Each time a prince or king stood up to attempt a lift, Sita's heart was in her mouth. And each time they failed, relief washed over her. For that was another chance for Rama to win her hand.

Sita grew impatient and to end her misery kept beseeching Rama silently to pick up the bow. But even Gods and Godesses in human births have to abide with human emotions, patience, Divine timing and most of all have Belief and Faith.

How did Rama react to her beseeching?   Coming up in tomorrow's post.

Love is in the air. When things don't seem to go our way, may we believe and have faith that all is well and is as it should be.

The Ramayana is a historical chronicle of events during the life of Lord Rama in an ancient time in a land called Bharatvarsh a part of which is now modern day India.

This year's theme was given to me through meditation. But more than just a theme I was also asked to write this from the perspective of Divine love and not just a recounting of the events as they took place. Hence the essence of my posts is "Love is in the air".

The individual theme and tone of my verses are also given to me. And I try to convey what Spirit wants to say through my poetry and prose. In essence, I only transcribe what is given to me, the author of these posts is my soul, the Universe, God and Goddess.

  1. Isn't this one of the most beautiful stories of the kings and queens of our mytho. Wish the princess had a wonderful ending to her love story too. Very well written Suzy.

    1. Thanks Ina. It is one of the most beautiful love stories. A real pity that those that write and read the Ramayana only read it event based.

  3. Yes, faith, trust and hope are what is needed when things don't go as expected in our life. But God never leaves our side. Maybe he's just testing our patience but every man gets his due.

  8. It must have been so difficult to watch others come forward, afraid if they would complete the task before Rama got a chance!

    1. Yes Swathi must've been so difficult for poor Sita. And more so because Rama would not move from his seat.

  13. True that Gods and Godesses in human births have to abide with human emotions, patience, Divine timing. Isn't this amazing that you were able to connect the letter "H" so convincingly to the epic Ramayana in such simplistic manner.

Now I am affirmed that this thought would have come through your meditation itself. Kudos to you.

    1. Thanks Jyotsna. We seem to think that Divinity are separate from the human breed but when Divinity takes a human birth, they are also bound by human emotions and limitations.
