Day 15 A to Z Challenge 2015 - Opportunity
Opportunity thought Rama and smiled
Affection for Sita to show
The palace walls were too confined
For love to play and grow
For Sita anywhere was home
If Rama was by her side
Her love for him like the sun it shone
No need now for it to hide
Lord Rama could have annihilated evil in so many ways. Did he really have to go into the forest? Why did Divinity choose this fate for Himself?
There were many reasons for this. Rama had more to learn about the harnessing of spiritual powers. He learned that from many ascetics he met in the forest. These were needed if he was to restore balance to the earth by the ending of evil. But annihilation of evil does not come from a single stroke, it needed to occur systematically.
But why did Sita have to leave the comforts of the palace and be with Rama? Sita, the daughter of Mother Earth, was at home in her natural surroundings. For her, home was where Rama was. Without him, she felt she was bereft of life itself. For Rama, Sita was his strength and life force. Soulmates incarnate for a common purpose, and God and Goddess needed to be together, their divine energies needed to be merged to complete their tasks on Earth.
But God and Goddess also arrived to experience and enjoy a human birth. Rama and Sita also came to experience love in human form and for that they needed to be away from the palace, away from the royal protocols, away from the multitude of people that came by their way every moment of every day. And what better than a secluded forest, far away from civilization. Not only did love between them need to be strong but they needed to unconditionally trust each other, for their love would be severely tested in the future.
Rama and Sita had a great love for not only mankind but all creation. Being in the midst of Nature was most conducive for spiritual understanding and for love to grow. There was a sense of freedom for them, like breathing in clean mountain air that invigorates.
And what about Lakshman? Why did he choose to go with them? Those questions answered in my post tomorrow.
Love is in the air. May you find the perfect means for your love to grow and may it continue to grow.

The Ramayana is a historical chronicle of events during the life of Lord Rama in an ancient time in a land called Bharatvarsh a part of which is now modern day India.
This year's theme was given to me through meditation. But more than just a theme I was also asked to write this from the perspective of Divine love and not just a recounting of the events as they took place. Hence the essence of my posts is "Love is in the air".
The individual theme and tone of my verses are also given to me. And I try to convey what Spirit wants to say through my poetry and prose. In essence, I only transcribe what is given to me, the author of these posts is my soul, the Universe, God and Goddess.
Warm Regards

You should seriously think of publishing a book
ReplyDeleteThanks Lata. That's so sweet. I will consider it, but will have to do a lot more work than just 26 posts.
DeleteI agree. Love stands by you, whether you are in a palace or a hovel. True love does not abandon.
ReplyDeleteThanks Cynthia and perfectly said.
DeleteIt is said that Rama and Sita's horoscopes matched in its entirety! 36 out of 36 gan matched and that is why they could not enjoy a life of togetherness...infact that is the reason, that people who match horoscopes do not want all gan to match! ( I personally don't believe in horoscopes and astrology, though!!)
ReplyDeleteI also don't believe in horoscopes. I think attitude, respect, understanding, tolerance and compromise make for better relationships.
DeleteThank you Suzy, lovely post. And I agree with first responder of publishing!
ReplyDeleteOh thanks Susan. I will surely consider it. Thank you that is the best compliment a "writer" can get.
DeleteSita and Lord Rama epitomize how an ideal couple should behave and how they should support each other in sickness and health. Waiting for tomorrow's post :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Prasanna. Yes, they were the ideal couple.
DeleteSuzy, I second Lata, please publish your story in a book. Your words make the story come alive.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sulekha for such a nice compliment. I would love to publish but wouldn't know how to. But first I would have to write a little more in depth.
DeleteSo well written.
ReplyDeleteThanks Janu.
DeleteYour re-telling/writing of Ramayana is so beautiful, that you make the characters and the story come alive.
ReplyDelete*Shantala @ ShanayaTales*
Thanks Shantala. That's such a nice compliment. Glad you think so.
DeleteTheir divine love was enough for them, palace or forest didn't matter. Lovely post Suzy :)
ReplyDeleteOnly Time Will Tell
Thanks Swathi. Yes their love was enough for them and it was tested so many times.
DeleteIt seems that Rama and Sita's love and devotion for each other would reign no matter where they were together! ;) <3
ReplyDeleteThat is absolutely true Elly.
DeleteI understand what you mean when you say that they had no privacy in the kingdom - always the cynosure of all eyes. But still pretty sad :(
ReplyDeleteYes, still sad but I guess it was all part of the Divine plan.
DeleteI loved the verses and the post..
ReplyDeleteThanks Parul.
DeleteTheir love went through several tests that were tough. Beautiful write.
ReplyDelete"For her, home was where Rama was". This defines love perfectly. ☺
