Sulekha's story in 26 parts each starting with a letter of the alphabet and written in 55 words

Nabanita's short stories with emotions beginning with the letter of the day

UBC Day 13 - Paying It Forward

UBC Day 13

Stories and fiction
Books, authors, weddings, guest posts
This week's ensemble

The A to Z group on facebook have divided the bloggers into groups so this week I thought I would feature some from my group:

Tulika is featuring authors and their books - Loving this theme heaps. So many new authors and books to explore

Sitara is weaving an extremely interesting story around Indu - can't wait for the remaining parts

Archana's theme is fiction fragments - her K post was a real killer

Shiva is educating us on the fineries of the Indian marriage - one of my favourite theme's this challenge. Loving each moment of the Indian marriage.

So that's the round up this week from my group.

But I'm also going to throw in a post that touched my heart. Please check out this post from Kim who was Corinne's guest at Everyday Gyaan:  11 things I learned

Haiku - Rain

This week's prompt at the Write Tribe is Haiku:

We will use a “Kigo” as our prompt. And since it’s the rainy season (at least here in India!) what better prompt can there be! So write a Haiku, with some element of the Rains in it. Your “Kigo” can be anything, clouds, raindrops, frogs, paper boats …. Let your imagination soar!

Here's  one I wrote sometime ago so sharing again

Raindrops splashing down
Creating puddles of fun
Children jumping in

And some new ones

Nectar from Heaven
Flowers reaching for the sky
Riot of colours

Wet pitter-patter
Face looking skyward refreshed
Thirsty earth relieved

Write Tribe - Three Friends

A lonely brown door
Waiting for someone to knock
Waste not a felled tree

A pretty blue line
Outlines the lonely brown door
Pretends to be sky

A little cactus
Enhances beauty of door
Three friends beckoning

UBC 21 - Tree - Haiku

Pohutukawa
Graceful, pretty, big and bright
Shelter from wind rain

The Pohutukawa is a native tree of New Zealand and is fondly called the New Zealand Christmas Tree as it flowers during Summer (Dec - Feb).

There are many Pohutukawa trees down my street and one near the bus stop provides shelter on windy or wet days.

Today's Haiku is dedicated to that tree.

Grateful for the Pohutukawa that provides shelter.

Have a fun day.

UBC Day 2 - Haiku - Onwards and New

Ultimate Blogging Challenge - Day 2

Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.
~ Robert Frost

It's been a while since I wrote some Haiku so thought it was time to get back into it.

Haiku Heights - New

Sensational Haiku Wednesday - Onward

A Happy New Year
Onwards to your dreams come true
And love, peace and joy

Let the past stay there
Look onwards to the future
New dreams, goals and hopes

Blogfest - The Boy

Daphne Palmer Romero is the host of this prompt for Blogfest 2012

The prompt is to write about this picture:

The boy gazes far
His destiny expansive
Like the vast ocean

His feet planted firm
Yet ready to take that step
When destiny calls

He hopes destiny
Is calm, gentle like the sea
Yet solid like earth.

Blogfest - Insomnia

Today's prompt for the Blogfest is hosted by Susan at Today's Working Woman

Last night I thought about this prompt and came up with a complete blank. And then on my way to work this morning, a little haiku started to form in my mind and then the verses just flowed. So here are some haiku verses on Insomnia.

Oh Insomnia!
No peace for my restless mind
Seeking some answers

Oh Insomnia!
Tired mind cannot relax
Sad exhaustion grows

Oh Insomnia!
Anxiety, thief of peace
That heightens my fear

Oh Insomnia!
In God I find my refuge
And sleep reigns once more

Have a peaceful, restful day and night

Haiku - Grass and Escape

Haiku Heights - Grass

A blade of grass, cut
Wisdom from the ancient texts
Universe quivers

Grass, sea and the sky
Earth, the playground of the Gods
And youthful escape

In the tall lush grass
The tiger swiftly escapes
Man shows no mercy

Releasing life's stress
An escape to paradise
Meditation rocks

It's the time to Haiku - Colour

Haiku Heights - Colour

(which I take to mean "any topic")

Colours of my life
Resemble nature's seasons
Blended together

The artist's paintbrush
Splashes of colours transform
Brings canvas to life

Pink and red roses
Sparkling eyes and tender smile
The colours of love
