UBC Day 10 - A day in my life

Day 10 of the Ultimate Blogging Challenge

My mind went blank today - I couldn't think of anything to write about. I've completed all the week's prompts so eventually thought I would give a little glimpse into a day in my life.

I'm usually up between 6.15am and 6.45am depending on how early I went to bed the night before.

First things first, I drink a warm glass of water - more than any health benefits, it just warms me up!

I spend about 15-20 minutes exercising - core strengthening exercises and yoga.

Then I start preparing breakfast (tea and toast for me or cereal on weekends) and pack some food to take to work.

I like to savour my breakfast and watch the birds and the hills. It's very peaceful as I usually breakfast alone. When my dad was alive, he and I would breakfast together. I miss those moments.

Then I make the bed, have my shower, get ready for work, Then it's off to the bus-stop.

On the bus I either read or listen to music and catch up on my emails, facebook etc. Somedays I just gaze out of the bus and take in the scenery.

I'm usually at work between 8.30am and 9.00am and leave sometime between 5.00pm and 6:00pm - depending on how much work I have that day. Luckily I contract so am not bound to specific work hours.

Wellington Bus Depot and Railway Station

I try to get to the gym thrice a week for about 45mins - usually on the treadmill and then some light weights. Must start up again next week.

I also plan to do some walking at lunch time just a quick walk up the hill and around the block.

Then it's home, dinner, dishes, watch some TV with my son, chat with my cousin in India (not everyday but quite often), blog, get ready for the next day (iron etc) shower and off to bed.

Nothing really very spectacular or extraordinary.

Enjoy your day and please share your day.

Warm Regards

  1. Wow. Your life seems so much more organized than mine. I'll get there someday.

  2. Your day sounds so peaceful and, as Amanda mentioned above, so organized. I never know from one day to the next how my day is going to be. Mine begins with a cup of coffee (usually my only cup for the day), followed by – whatever – writing, reading, crocheting, showering, eating, exercising. Never in any particular order. Twice a week I care for my grandchildren. But one "constant" is that life interrupts with a phone call from a friend or a family member, a request to watch one or more of my grandchildren, doctor visits, illness, trips. With a family as large as mine is, every day is a surprise. By the way, something about the way you write exudes peace – exactly what I needed this morning. Thank you!

  3. Loved hearing about your typical day, Suzy! Glad to know, too, that there is someone else out there who makes regular visits to the gym. :)
    Blessings to you!

    1. Thanks Martha. Going to the gym is something I have to motivate myself to do but in the end I can convince myself it's good for me. Blessings to you too.

  4. Sounds like a good kind of day :) My days are very random and unorganized at the moment.
Very much enjoyed reading that. It's nice to get a glimpse into other people's lives.

    1. Thanks Erica. It's easier in the Summer when daylight hours are longer. A bit harder in the Winter. Thanks for dropping by.

  6. That's a nice routine you have there. My classes are going to start back in a couple of weeks, so I need to start developing a routine of my own. As it is right now, I've gotten into a terrible habit of staying up far too late, which causes me to sleep far too late into the day. I want to make sure I have time for a little bird watching of my own even once I'm back in school mode.

  7. Oh my goodness, routine, I can't even imagine having a routine that tight. I get up with the kids for school, shower maybe, feed the little ones grab some tea (iced), play with the baby, get him dressed, maybe I have an appointment some days I don't,. Go to a meeting everyday at noon home by 1:30, fix baby lunch, play with him after changing a diaper or two, run the kids wherever the are destined for the day. Clean house as time allows, cook dinner, play with the kids. Sit up half the night on the computer, emails, facebook, blogs. Inbetween all of it several times a day I stop, wait, pray and listen. All in different order everyday, with many other obligations on a day to day basis. Oh and I watch Criminal Minds every day at least once. I read at night after computer time. Whew I'm tired now! LOL

    1. Thanks Jan - when the kids were little there were often days that were just chaotic. You sure have a full day.

  8. My day depends on whether it's school holidays or school term lol. The holidays tend to be a lazier, relaxing time than the term is, especially when all the extra curricular activities have started!
