Find the fun ... #atozchallenge letter F

My theme for the 2017 AtoZ Challenge is "Daily Thoughts".

Each day I will post a thought that comes to mind. The first word of the thought will correspond with the letter of the day.

So here is my thought for the letter F

Find the fun and snap the job's a game

When I was little, I used to sing the song from Mary Poppins "A Spoonful of Sugar" with great gusto. But at that time it was just a song.

The words however are very profound:

In every job that must be done

There is an element of fun

You find the fun and snap

The job's a game

And every task you undertake

Becomes a piece of cake

A lark a spree ...

Household chores are definitely not my idea of fun. I don't mind washing dishes, but hanging out the laundry and most boring of all, ironing are truly tiresome. So my fun in these otherwise boring tasks is to listen to music and sometimes even sing along. That definitely makes the tasks go faster.

There have been a couple of places where I worked that I simply couldn't find the fun.  I was glad to leave and move on.  It's not that it was something different and I love what I do but I just couldn't find the fun. Sometimes things are not meant to be.  I love where I work now. all day it feels like fun even though it's a tough project. 

Find the fun in all you do

If you can't perhaps it's not meant for you

If you find that passion true

You won't feel quite so blue

These are a few of my Favourite Things

Colours Dekor is hosting a November linky, "My favourite things".

I thought it might be a fun one to do- something about myself for a change.

I will add that anything my kids make for me, I absolutely love but will exclude those from here as it's just too hard to choose and this post will then run forever.

So here are my other favourite things, in no particular order:

I love roses and this one is from my garden. check out my I love roses post.

I love Birthday Cakes and I enjoyed my kids birthday parties. I tried not to make them theme parties as I think the kids just enjoyed being with each other - a few games here and there, chippies and pizza, cartoons or a movie, and they had oodles of fun. The birthday cakes were always a surprise for the kids - they just loved the suspense and waited eagerly to see their cake. Here are some birthday cakes ...

I love Christmas trees and enjoy decorating them. Each year the kids buy an ornament each to hang on the tree and we try out different colours. Here is the Silver/White one. It was quite simple but looked stunning. I don't think the photo does it justice and as it was taken during the day, you can't see the lights.

My one and only feeble attempt at pottery painting, but I love this mug. My friend and I had a lovely morning together painting at The Swish Dish - it was so therapeutic and relaxing. Nice lunch afterwards was fun too.

Limiting this post to 5 favourite things, so here is the last one, my lovely camera (well a picture of the same model anyway). It travels with me everywhere. I've had it for 6 years now so it is well used and loved.

Snapshot of my week - fun filled

A fun filled week even though the electricity went off each morning at work just as I was in the middle of an important document - many wt.. moments. You have to laugh at times like that.

Met up with ex colleagues from another time and place. Always love meeting up with them. It's like the years just melt away.

Shopping for clothes with my friend Fi is always great fun. Nothing really caught my eye but it was fun. Friday night I watched the Trinny and Susannah show. Not sure about some of their clothes but loved Susannah's "Blondes have fun, but Brunettes turn heads".


On Friday we had a mini golf tournament at work. Check out my post Eye of the Tiger on my blog Photos are fun

Weather wise, a bit up and down this week - either way it's been c o l d.
