Outside My Window #WordsMatter

Each morning I look outside my window and sip my cup of chai. It's a peaceful time of day. Even though the scene is the same - the sky, the hills, the houses in the distance, the trees in my garden, the birds flying around - each day is different.

Some days the sky looks stormy, some days clear and bright. Some days you can see all the little details in the hills, some days they disappear in the mist. Each season brings a different hue to the hills and transforms the plants in my garden. There isn't a single day that looks the same.

Nature has taught me that nothing stays the same, the storms will come, the storms will go and the sun will shine again. The trees will bend and sway or remain still, leaves will fall and then grow again, the flowers will bloom, wither away and then bloom again.

Life is like that too. There are ups and downs. Sometimes life looks bright and cheery and sometimes it feels hard and lonely. We must learn to take the good with the bad and know that the bad times won't stay forever.

When life feels like a cloudy sky, I try to remember that the sun just hides behind the clouds and will come shining through.

And as I look outside my window, I am learning to appreciate each changing day because every daily nuance is a new experience.

I am taking part in the #WordsMatter monthly bloghop.  There are 47 of us on this Blog Hop and it will be spread over 3 days – 2, 3, 4 August. Check out some awesome posts at the Frangipani Creative. on this month's prompt "Outside my window".

I received this tag from Rajlakshmi at Destiny's Child and I am passing it on to Roshan at GodYears.

May the storms you weather be small ones. Have an awesome day.

Grief #writebravely #celebratewritetribe #suzysilation

‘I’m Writing Bravely for the Write Tribe Festival of Words – March 2019’

For this round I am challenging myself to writing acrostic poems.

Day 7 is the last day of the challenge and today's prompt is Grief

G - Giving yourself permission that sorrow exists

R - Releasing tears is cathartic. Let them flow.

I - Intense sorrow and a feeling of desolation

E - Experiencing deep pain at the loss of a loved one

F - Feeling it deep in your heart for without feeling there can be no overcoming

Grief is an emotion that all of us go through at points in our life. If we did not feel grief, we would not be human. Grieving is a releasing of emotions of great loss and forlornness. But grieving is necessary to move forward in life. We never entirely get over that loss but we learn to move on because life goes on.

Anne Lamott has summed this up very well:

“You will lose someone you can’t live without, and your heart will be badly broken, and the bad news is that you never completely get over the loss of your beloved. But this is also the good news. They live forever in your broken heart that doesn’t seal back up. And you come through. It’s like having a broken leg that never heals perfectly—that still hurts when the weather gets cold, but you learn to dance with the limp.”
Anne Lamott

I have watched many people deal with grief in different ways. Grief usually hits me a few days after the event and at that time I like to sit quietly, acknowledge my loss, feel the sadness (sometimes this can take a few days) and then remember the good times.

How do you deal with grief? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Trust #writebravely #celebratewritetribe #suzysilation

‘I’m Writing Bravely for the Write Tribe Festival of Words – March 2019’

For this round I am challenging myself to writing acrostic poems.

Day 6 prompt is Trust

T - Taking the first step confidently without seeing the whole staircase

R - Release resistence and the need to know everything for whatever happens is just as it should be

U - Universe has your back and will always guide you to where you need to be

S - Swim in harmony with the flow for it knows where to go

T - The way appears as you keep moving forward

“I have come to accept the feeling of not knowing where I am going. And I have trained myself to love it. Because it is only when we are suspended in mid-air with no landing in sight, that we force our wings to unravel and alas begin our flight. And as we fly, we still may not know where we are going to. But the miracle is in the unfolding of the wings. You may not know where you're going, but you know that so long as you spread your wings, the winds will carry you.”
C. JoyBell C.

Trusting in the Universal flow is sometimes hard to do, but in the end it makes life a little bit easier.

Do you  "trust until that trust is broken" or " don't trust until it's earned"? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Influence #writebravely #celebratewritetribe #suzysilation

‘I’m Writing Bravely for the Write Tribe Festival of Words – March 2019’

For this round I am challenging myself to writing acrostic poems.

Day 5 prompt is Influence

I  -  Impacting someone or many with your words or actions

N - Noting that the negative can be devastating

F - Function within your circle of influence

L - Live and let live. Letting go if things don't serve either well

U - Understanding how actions / words affect others. Understanding others.

E - Effective communication that uplifts, but is always honest.

N - Needs occur for all, nuture don't destroy

C - Choose win / win for both or all. Work in the spirit of cooperation

E - Encourage others to achieve more than they think they can. Then you have truly influenced another to be the best they can be.

"Influence" always reminds me of Stephen Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. If you haven't read it, I highly recommend it.

And this quote sums up why understanding how we influence others is so important.

“We never know which lives we influence, or when, or why.”
Stephen King,

This year I changed the way I post on Instagram. Instead of just posting pictures, I add a quote to go with it. I hope that those that read my Instagram posts, find them not only interesting but uplifting. I will be applying the same to my blogging and tweeting.  To be a positive influencer is my hope for 2019.

Nurture #writebravely #celebratewritetribe #suzysilation

‘I’m Writing Bravely for the Write Tribe Festival of Words – March 2019’

For this round I am challenging myself to writing acrostic poems.

Day 4 prompt is Nurture

N  - Nourish minds

U - Understand others and their points of view

R - Renew faith in self

T - Thought expansion

U - Upraise in a pleasing way to increase confidence

R - Review and correct behaviour with understanding and kindness

E - Encourage creative and other pursuits and provide support where needed.

One of the qualities of a great leader is the ability to nurture, to take someone beyond what they imagined they could reach even if that reach is greater than the leader him/herself.

A leader isn't confined to work, parents can and should also be leaders.

“Be the one who nurtures and builds.
Be the one who has an understanding and a forgiving heart one who looks for the best in people.
Leave people better than you found them.”
Marvin J. Ashton

Victoria Moran, Younger by the Day

Miracle #writebravely #celebratewritetribe #suzysilation

‘I’m Writing Bravely for the Write Tribe Festival of Words – March 2019’

For this round I am challenging myself to writing acrostic poems.

Day 2 prompt is Miracle.

M - Manifesting something out of the ordinary

I  - Imagination at its wildest can't match this bizzare occuring

R -  Realistically unbelievable

A - Astonishing event that can only be attributed to Divine intervention

C - Comprehending this is beyond human capability

L - Lacks lucid explanation

E - Extraordinary and filled with wonder

There have been events in my life that fit the descriptions above. So I have experienced miracles first hand. But even the simplest of things that we take for granted are miracles. And this is nicely explained by Thich Nhat Hanh:

“People usually consider walking on water or in thin air a miracle. But I think the real miracle is not to walk either on water or in thin air, but to walk on earth. Every day we are engaged in a miracle which we don't even recognize: a blue sky, white clouds, green leaves, the black, curious eyes of a child—our own two eyes.
All is a miracle.”
Thich Nhat Hanh, The Miracle of Mindfulness

Forgive #writebravely #celebratewritetribe #suzysilation

‘I’m Writing Bravely for the Write Tribe Festival of Words – March 2019’

For this round I am challenging myself to writing acrostic poems.

Day 1 prompt is Forgive.

F - Finding the strength to let go and move on

O - Overcoming the hurt caused by the action

R - Reflecting and wallowing no more in that moment

G - Going forward with no thoughts of revenge or hatred

I - Intelligent reaction to unintelligent behaviour or action

V - Victim no more

E - Ego tamed, anger diffused, calmness prevails and no longer affected by the event.

In my view it is impossible to not feel anger, grief, sadness, frustration and live in a constant state of joy, bliss, peace, forgiveness etc.

But forgiveness does not mean we condone someone's actions it just means it no longer affects us in a way that keeps us stuck in that moment.

“As I walked out the door toward the gate that would lead to my freedom, I knew if I didn't leave my bitterness and hatred behind, I'd still be in prison.”
Nelson Mandela
