Forgive #writebravely #celebratewritetribe #suzysilation

‘I’m Writing Bravely for the Write Tribe Festival of Words – March 2019’

For this round I am challenging myself to writing acrostic poems.

Day 1 prompt is Forgive.

F - Finding the strength to let go and move on

O - Overcoming the hurt caused by the action

R - Reflecting and wallowing no more in that moment

G - Going forward with no thoughts of revenge or hatred

I - Intelligent reaction to unintelligent behaviour or action

V - Victim no more

E - Ego tamed, anger diffused, calmness prevails and no longer affected by the event.

In my view it is impossible to not feel anger, grief, sadness, frustration and live in a constant state of joy, bliss, peace, forgiveness etc.

But forgiveness does not mean we condone someone's actions it just means it no longer affects us in a way that keeps us stuck in that moment.

“As I walked out the door toward the gate that would lead to my freedom, I knew if I didn't leave my bitterness and hatred behind, I'd still be in prison.”
Nelson Mandela

  1. Great thought.
Forgiveness is an intelligent reaction indeed with ego-taming.

  3. Lovely poem. Agreed, it's hard to forgive but you have to move on for your own well-being

  4. Such a profound perspective Suzy. Made me reflect on each alphabet, each reflection.

  5. That perfectly sums up the steps to forgive. Agree with the thoughts you have shared. It is because we are stuck in that moment and keep playing the hurt, anger, ego on a loop in our head and that kills our mental peace and happiness bit by bit... Letting go and moving on is the way forward.

  7. I see forgiveness as an act of kindness and today when we are so busy in our own lives then we are always in scarcity of time then why to waste the valuable time we have in or hands by showing anger, saying harsh words. Why cant we just let go and be happy.

  8. That Nelson Mandela quote pretty much sums it up. If we bear a grudge, we remain in our mental prisons.

  9. Good post, Suzy! We need to forgive not to condone or feel superior, but to free ourselves. Forgiveness gives us freedom from negativity.

  10. So well said! I loved that last quote. He is so right. We always fall a victim to this.

  11. Victim no more. That's what helps us heal as well. So beautifully put, Suzy!

  12. Yes, bitterness spoils everything for us. It's best to learn from your mistakes and make sure you never repeat it. Whoever was the reason behind the mistake--well, forgive them and move on. Who are we to punish them, or hold grudges?

  13. To forgive is to forget the action of the person who hurt you without hating him/her. It is difficult to do but necessary to live happily. Great quote by Dr Mandela. Thanks for this post.
