UBC 10 - AtoZ - Imagination

Day 10  of the Ultimate Blogging Challenge and the letter I  for the  AtoZ Blogging Challenge

Imagination is more important than knowledge  ~ Albert Einstein

Do you think Einstein was right?

Here are my thoughts on that.

The greatest inventions over the centuries were the culmination of dreams and fantasies that visionaries dared to convert into reality. And once real, that became knowledge.

Though knowledge facilitates improvement, it is imagination that creates.

Knowledge stays within the boundaries of what we know, imagination takes you beyond the limits of the mind.

Knowledge gives you the ability to experience what is known, imagination allows you to experience anything you can dream of and desire.

Knowledge is inspiring but imagination is exciting and daring.

Knowledge is the amalgamation of thoughts and experiences of many, imagination is yours and yours alone.

When I was young I had imagined a time when I would write. I loved to write but my teacher told me I wasn't good at it and the marks he gave me reflected his observation of my writing.

But my dream of writing never left my mind. Then the internet opened up and provided the perfect medium for my creative desires. Perhaps this (the internet) was the culmination of collective consciousness of the dreamers who imagined a time when they could write and share their dreams when so many told them that would never occur. Something to ponder over.

This song always come to mind whenever I think of imagination. John Lennon imagined a world that was peaceful and captured his dream in his song "Imagine".

Some of the words in this song are a little controversial and I mulled over whether to post it or not. And then about 2 seconds ago, someone posted a pic of John Lennon via "Knowledge is power" on Facebook. How coincidental that my post is also on imagination and knowledge (or is it????).

But that confirmed for me to post it, so here it is ...

Today I am grateful for all the visionaries (great and small) who dared to dream and had the courage and perseverance to make their dream a reality.

I'm also grateful that my imagination runs wild at times and I hope yours does too.

Warm Regards

  13. Your teacher needs to be punished and made to write, "I will never discourage a student again," 200 times in his notebook. Thankfully, you didn't pay much attention to that criticism, and so we have these beautiful posts to provoke us into pondering over something new everyday. Nice post, Suzy.

  14. Totally believe Einstein. The man was a genius afterall, right?! Besides, look how much science fiction is now reality. Star Trek alone inspired so many of our sci-tech today!

  20. I love how I can open up your video to listen to while I comment, Suzi. John Lennon's Imagine is great!

I do believe imagination is much better than knowledge as it is boundless and free. Something about knowledge creates barriers. Those with authority determine what is valuable knowledge and what isn't, even if it's not true. The education system shows that only too well. I think imagination is above all that and available to all.

And I'm glad you didn't listen to that narrow minded teacher who said you couldn't write. Keep writing. Loved your post.

  22. Absolutely 100% agree with Einstein! He's my hero, by the way! Such a wonderful person! The best example I know is that of how the structure of the benzene ring was envisaged. I can't remember who, but the scientists dreamed of snakes coiling and then catching their own tails. He then woke and realized that the benzene molecule was a ring structure!
