Day 4 of the Ultimate Blogging Challenge and the letter D for the AtoZ Blogging Challenge

D is for ... Dreams
Dreams are today's answers to tomorrow's questions ~ Edgar Cayce
is the quote that jumped out at me so I will make that the basis of my post today. But I thought I would do something different, so here is an acrostic poem reflecting the essence of the quote.
Desires lived in sleep state
Revelations of one's life
Ethereal visions of future possibilities
Aha moments, affirmations of doubts and thoughts
Messages from beyond, usually ones that are needed by us.
Secrets of the soul shown
I often get messages in dreams that initially make no sense and then suddenly one day the message unravels, the dots join up. So I keep a dream journal and jot down the very vivid dreams.
A few days ago, I had the strangest dream ...
I was at work (though I don't know where I was working) and was to attend a meeting. I went from room to room and each time I walked in I was greeted with "this is not where you are meant to be".
My last 3 projects got cancelled and that left me every 5 -7 months, looking for a new job (yep I'm back to searching again).
That had got me thinking that perhaps it is time to change direction and do something different. Perhaps I'm not on the right path and that my life's work lies somewhere else (in fact I am certain that my life's work lies somewhere else).
And I think my dream was affirming for me and telling me it is time to step into that.
If only I knew how to make that change! I look forward to that dream that shows me the way.
And I'm grateful that the Universe converses.
Wishing you all dreams come true.
Warm Regards
Suzy, I'm not one who remembers her dreams on a consistent basis, but I did have some last night which your words written here jolted them to the forefront. You made me realize there is much going on in the world, in my life, and in my country to which I must pay heed.
ReplyDeleteLove and blessings to you!
Thanks Martha - I've always believed that the Universe converses with us in many ways and dreams are one of those ways. Love and Blessings to you too.
DeleteNice post Suzy, I have vivid dreams too..I'll have to pay more attention to their messages:-) Laxmi.
ReplyDeleteThanks Laxmi - dreams definitely convey messages - it's trying to decipher them that's hard!
DeleteI've always been fascinated with dreams, and pored through books by Freud and Jung. An author I love has a book out on dream interpretation today on my blog. Check out the post here: Damyanti @Daily(w)rite

Me too Damyanti. Will be reading the Dream Catcher tonight! Thanks for posting that on your blog.
DeleteThat's interesting. Like you, have seen many people who have very vivid dreams, can remember minute details and interpret it too. As for me... I can't remember my dreams after waking up. But I guess, the dreams speak a lot. Recently an acquaintance attended a workshop on dreams interpretation...
ReplyDeleteHi Shilpa - If I don't jot it down or think about it enough when I wake up, it's usually gone by the time I get to the kitchen!
DeleteI have the most random dreams when I'm pregnant. The rest of the time it's hubby who is always talking about a dream that he had.
ReplyDeleteHi AMummys Life, sometimes our dreams are random, then years later an aha moment occurs!
DeleteI dream a lot--and have always had those "big" dreams. I think sometimes they are gifts to guide us...and only we know when that one dream comes along to which we must pay attention. :) Sounds like you had one of those dreams!!
ReplyDeleteCheers, Jenn.
So true Jenn - not all dreams have a message. I think there was definitely a message in mine.
DeleteYou know Suzy, I miss my dreams these days. Mommmy to an infant who is a really light sleeper, leaves me with no time or mind space to dream. But I've had dreams that have shown me the way too. Several in fact, including one that helped me make up my mind about my now-husband.
ReplyDeleteCheers, or should I say Dream on!
Meera
Thanks Meera. Now that would've been a real good dream. Thanks for sharing.
DeleteI fascinate dreams. They are such a bunch of mystique elements. Dreams and there interpretations interests me too.
ReplyDeleteThe acrostic poem is just so very apt and beautifully written.
and it gave to goosebumps to read about your dream and it's message.
Thanks Preetilata. Glad you liked my post.
DeleteIt will sure show its way SUZY!
ReplyDeleteI firmly believe in dreaming. Not day dreams. Dreams are ones which dont come after u sleep . They keep U AWWAKE and u lose sleep. I lvoe this line
I am also lookng for a new direction and am sure dream will hit us one fine day
beautiful wateva u wrote

Thanks Afshan. Here's to more messages in dreams for you and me.
DeleteI have vivid dreams and have found answers many times that way. Most days I wake up remembering a snippet.
ReplyDeleteI wish you all the best in your "calling" :-)
Thanks Vidya - I think I know what it is - I just don't know where the path to get there is.
DeleteThis post reminds me of the book "Alchemist" by paulo chohelo!
ReplyDeleteThanks Meena - the Alchemist is a superb book.
DeleteThis 's got to be your best post till date . Loved the acrostic and hope one day you will interpret and follow your dreams in a way which make you really happy :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Sridevi. I hope so too.
DeleteI have a recurrent dream .. That I have flunked my Maths exams ! I hated maths. Haven't studied it for over 15 years but still get this nightmare !
ReplyDeleteHi Ruchira - I often dream I'm late for my exam so can't sit it - very weird as I finished my studies well over 30 years ago! Maybe it means something and someday the aha moment will occur.
DeleteDreams always fascinate because they can be such an interesting learning tool...
ReplyDeleteHi Caro, dreams are fascinating and interesting - I wait for the aha moment when all falls into place!
DeleteI have crazy vivid dreams and I am forever trying to analyze them:)
ReplyDeleteHi Talya - I gave up analysing them immediately - some of them made absolutely no sense whatsoever. Hence I jot them down and wait for the fog to clear.
DeleteI would like the job writing dream analyzes. Fun!
Deleteoh lol that could definitely be fun.
DeleteI have never analyzed my dreams. Will need to watch out more.
ReplyDeleteHi Janu - I am a firm believer that the Universe interacts with us via our dreams. Happy analysing!
Deletewow! That dream definitely meant something and it looks like it was right about your changing direction! Hope you find out what your dream job is!
ReplyDeleteThanks Roshni - I'm pretty sure I know where I want to go - just don't know how to leave this path and jump onto that one.
DeleteHa! This makes me think, some dream really have meaning
ReplyDeletePlease don't laugh. But I always have this dream(ok, I program it like that) that my books get Nobel(lit) and also Booker and that I'm the only woman to do it..blah blah, ofcourse it might take me another 40 years, but will try :P
Loved reading this Suzy :)
Thanks Nandana. Hold onto that dream - Dream Big is one of my mantras. Will look forward to the day you win those.
DeleteI think the hardest dreams to understand are exactly the ones that indicate where we need to go. we may not understand them at first, but when the moment comes, we will say ah yes. Many years ago, I had a dream about a person whom I had never seen or met before, but I felt he was to become someone very important to me. And guess what?! we did meet and now we have been together for almost 5 years.
ReplyDeleteHow cool Mary. last night I called out to a Matthew - do I know any Matthew's? No ... mmmm now I'm beginning to wonder.
DeleteI have been thinking of keeping a notebook by my bed because my dreams are so crazy sometimes but I forget them after a few hours.A few of them have come true :)lovely post.
ReplyDelete@sulekkha
Thanks Sulekha - crazy is the word for some of them! Following you on twitter now.
DeleteHi Suzy, I am a fellow UBC blogger.
ReplyDeleteI love your poem, to me it serves as a great definition for dreams.
I have very vivid dreams that answer a lot of questions stirring in my mind or from my prayers.
When I was in high school I had a dream that told me to slow down when striving for success or reaching a goal. That dream comes back when I try too hard. It always puts things into perspective. I liken it to a gut instinct-follow through on that instinct.
Thanks Stephanie. Your dream gave you great advice. I love those uplifting dreams. Thanks for visiting. Have dropped by and commented on your post.
DeleteI believe the universe contacts us in dreams because we're more open and accepting there ... and even the dreams we don't remember get into our psyche and influence us at a deeper level. Great post!
ReplyDeleteThanks Isobel. All you say is so true and I think it's the influence at the deeper level that moves us to that place. thanks for sharing.
DeleteMay the Universe continue to speak to you through your dreams and lead you to your calling, Suzy. Will be praying for you. ♥
ReplyDeleteThanks Corinne. I pray for that too. Blessings to you my friend.
DeleteLately I have been having the craziest dreams and they have left me unsettled. Maybe I need to really pay attention to what I am dreaming. I may find some answers.
ReplyDeleteKathy

Hi Kathy - crazy dreams are so frustrating. May you find the answers.
DeleteI've always found dreams to be fascinating and have fun looking things up on dream websites. Last night I had a dream about my husband and I gliding around a party visiting with everyone there. It was fun. I guess I should look that one up.
ReplyDeletehttp://joycelansky.blogspot.com
Hi Joyce, A party is a good dream! I just downloaded a book on dreams so will be reading that soon.
DeleteI love dreams that are viewed as affirmations. I think they can definitely a guide to us at times. good luck in following yours to a fabulous ending for you!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Amy. Those are good dreams.
ReplyDeleteFor me dreams have been a mystery - some times I remember, sometimes i don't remember the dreams, in my early years I used to always dream of falling, I used to get worried, and in another dream I used to always miss the train in my dream, I never attempted to interpret.
ReplyDeleteI used to have conversations with very close friends in my dream, and would get up happy ! the last time I dreamt of losing my son (who is no more) at a shrine, and found myself searching for him.. I got up sad and nervous and I wrote a blog post. Dreams do tell us about our lives, I pray and hope you are led in the direction you desired for ... wishing you peace & blessings !
Thanks so much Angela for sharing your dreams. Wishing you peace and blessings too.
