Day 1 of the Ultimate Blogging Challenge and the letter A for the AtoZ Blogging Challenge
A is for ... ANGEL
Thought I would start the challenge with a song.
The song Angel was recorded and released by Elvis Presley in 1961 for the movie "Follow that Dream". It also featured on the album C'mon Everybody.
Angel was not one of his top hits, but it is one of my favourite Elvis songs.
In the last few days, wherever I turn, there seems to be something regarding Angels so I thought this would be a good song to start off with (though the song isn't quite about those lovely angelic beings).
And this quote jumped out at me which also confirms that a song is the way to start
I was going to limit this post to a song, but I have a great urge to talk about the Divine Angels too - that is my experience with them or one in particular. So must go with that.
Ever since I was very little, I believed that each of us has a Guardian Angel - even though no one ever told me or spoke of it. And I used to think that our life was that Angel's dream and when our angel stopped dreaming, we died!
Angels exist in every culture and there is often an angel that one is drawn too and mine is Archangel Chamuel, the Loving Angel. Chamuel's name means "He who sees God" or "He who seeks God".
I really did not know of his existence or for that matter any of the Archangels as my belief in angels was more at a generic level. But in meditating one day a few years ago, the name "Chamuel" came to me.
Chamuel always brings peace to my soul. And he comes to me whenever I'm trying hard to connect to my Lord but struggle to do so or when a life changing event is about to occur (and that makes me wonder why he came to me today).
In my mind I see him as a youthful and very handsome angel. I tried to find a picture and this one came closest to how I imagine Archangel Chamuel.
But onto the music ...
Enjoy ...
Today I am grateful for angels who watch over us and for Archangel Chamuel who comforts me.
Have an awesome, angelic day and please share your angel experiences.
Warm Regards

Thanks Ruchira. It's a very comforting thought to have angels watch over us.
DeleteWhen I was a child I was taught about guardian angels, but they seemed more to be watching my every move in a negative way! ;) Now I know that there are angels all around us. Would you believe I've never heard this song of Elvis' before? Thanks for sharing, Suzy.
ReplyDeleteThanks Corinne. he he yep those angels watch those moves of ours too! "Angel" was on an Elvis tape someone gave me years ago - loved it ever since.

ReplyDeleteThanks Afshan :)
DeleteI believe in Guardian Angel too but my knowledge about them is negligible. Suzy, how do i get to know about who my Guardian Angel is?
ReplyDeleteI too love this song. :)
Thanks Preetilata. I got mine through meditation so that's one way. The other way would probably be to read up on each angel and see which one resonates with you or get a psychic reading done on yourself. Hope this helps.
DeleteHI, I have always joked that my guardian angel (if I had one) would be grey haired by now, with all the scrapes and scares he would have saved me from. Ha. Since I'm almost 80, he would have had lots of opportunities. Best regards to you. Ruby
ReplyDeleteThanks Ruby. I hope you find what you seek - a quiet word to your angel might help :)
DeleteAn interesting post, Suzy, as I've never had any sense of having a guardian angel. Love the Elvis song - had never heard it before.
ReplyDeleteThanks Paula. It's one of those Elvis songs that was tucked away and forgotten. But I'm glad I posted it. Off to read your post!
DeleteThanks for introducing us to Archangle Chamuel. I do believe in guardian angles guiding us.
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome Janu. :)
DeleteLovely post. I certainly believe in 'others' who watch over us, ready to guide if we open up and ask them for ideas.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mojowritin. Glad you liked my post. I think there are many others (other than Guardian Angels) who also help us from above.
DeleteI am not sure I believe in angels. But I loved reading your post. Loved listening to the song by Elvis.
ReplyDeleteThanks Shail. Glad you enjoyed my post.
DeleteThe idea of an angel out there looking after me and protecting me is very comforting. And I always believe in the power of Him up above. Thanks for reinforcing that Suzy!
ReplyDeleteThanks Naina, you are welcome. And oh yes my bhakti and shradha in Him is unwavering.
DeleteLovely post.I'd love to think My Angel is watching over me and helping me through life. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Trish. Glad you liked my post.
DeleteLovely post, Suzy. I believe in angels also, and there are several times in my life that I can point when I really believed an angel saved me. Several years ago I went to a shop called Angel Haven. One of the things they sold was small angel medallions on neck chains. Each medallion featured a particular archangel, and they figured out which one was yours. Mine was a female angel named Camael, who I was told was the sister of the archangel Michael. So similar to the name of your angel! May Camael and Chamuel keep us both safe and blessed!
ReplyDeleteThanks Elaine. Yes indeed we are blessed. Thanks for visiting and sharing your story.
DeleteThat's such a lovely sentiment of our life being an angel's dream! Loved it and the song!
ReplyDeleteThanks Roshni and I used to pray my angel dreamt on and had good dreams.
DeleteA for Angels - awesome start for the month-long challenge.
ReplyDeleteHappy A to Z!

ReplyDeleteThis is a blog about two guardian angels I encountered a few years ago. :)
