Thankful Thursday - 18 December

There are so many times our lives when we feel that life is so unfair - everyone you know has everything and you have so little. And then things come along that make you sit up and see all the wonderful things that you have in your life.

This is the first Christmas I will spend when I am unemployed. It depresses me a little. Then I read so many blogs where people are struggling with life, TV interviews or events to help those in need of a handout and then I thank God and realise that I am truly blessed. I have so much.

But the thing that truly drove it home for me was the story of  Rhema Marvanne a young gospel singer who lost her mother to cancer at the tender age of 6. Read her story here.

I share her version of "The Prayer".

Thank God for his Divine Grace and Blessings. Thank God for Christmas. Thank God for constantly reminding me that I have plenty and with faith and trust all will be well.

I wish you all Peace, Love and Joy

Thankful Thursday - 8 December

                                                                       stuff.co.nz

On December 03 2011, a 5.7 earthquake shook Wellington New Zealand.

It was scary. This was the first time stuff fell off my shelves and my son and I ran under the doorway.

So Thankful that we are all safe and that the damage in Wellington was minimal and no one was hurt.

The suburb I live in is probably the safest place to be in Wellington. So Thankful I was at home with my son.

So Thankful that my daughter is safe.

My mother was on her way home from the temple, so Thankful she got home safe.

And then this morning we had another shake 4.2. So Thankful that again we are all safe.

Be safe this holiday season wherever you are.

Warm Regards

ABC Wednesday T is for ..... Thankful Thursday - 1 December

The Letter T at ABC Wednesday  is for Thankful Thursday

I am truly thankful for all those terrific people who tirelessly treated and lovingly tended to the little blue penguins that were affected by the tragic oil spill from the Rena off the coast of Tauranga in New Zealand.

The Rena was carrying One thousand seven hundred (1700) tonnes of heavy fuel oil and two hundred (200) tonnes of marine diesel oil. See Wikipedia - Rena oil spill for more information.

Recently some Little Blue Penguins were released back into the sea but more than three hundred (300) are still waiting for their release. They were microchipped  to track if the oil spill and their captivity had any effects on their long term health. Taken from Little Blue Penguins Waddle to Freedom

Thankful also for all the tremendous support from thousands of people all over the world who went about knitting little cardigans for the Little Blue Penguins to keep them warm whilst they were being treated. Watch the video on Jumpers for the Little Blue Penguins (truly very cute).

Little Blue Penguin toys are being sold at Skeinz

Little Blue Penguin Trivia:
  • world's smallest penguin
  • found on the coastlines of New Zealand (including the Chatham Islands) and Southern Australia
  • called Korora in Maori
  • it is a protected native species as their numbers are declining
  • dogs are their biggest threat hence they thrive in conservation areas.

Thankful Thursday - 24 November

Much as I would like to say money is not important, unfortunately we live in a world where money is required to survive.

A year ago there were 10-15 applications for the jobs I am applying for now I am told there are 40-60 for the same job. It's become quite competitive and interviews are hard to come by.

So I am very thankful that I have the opportunity of two job interviews this week and I am crossing my fingers that at least one of them will come through for me.

I feel I did well at both interviews and that's all I can do. As Buddha and many great Spiritual leaders have said ... Detach from the outcome.

Abandon all attachment to the results of action and attain supreme peace.
                                                                                 Lord Krishna, Bhagvad Gita.

I wish everyone who is looking for jobs all the very best and hope that you all will be successful in getting one.

And to those around the world who celebrate Thanksgiving, Happy Thanksgiving to all of you.

Warm Regards

Thankful Thursday - 17 November - Quotes

There are some weeks when despair starts to take over and we need to reach out or within to turn us back to positive thoughts and energies.

So this week I am grateful for all the things that lift me up when I am down:

I love quotes and I always find that the quotes I need to most hear show up - on facebook, through tweets, through blogs. And this week I needed to hear about the journey of life.I am thankful for all the quotes that appeared that were answers to questions. So here they are:

"Every season has a reason. Trust in the Divine order of your journey"
"Enjoy life's detours. They often provide life's greatest memories"
"When I let go of what's not meant to be, I clear a path for good stuff to find me"
"Take the first step in faith. You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step"

There are many people who appear in your life who support you and inspire you and then there are those that take that a step further and work with you - the people who actually "do", who make it happen. They are the ones I call truly helpful and I am so thankful for them. Two such wonderful people have stepped into my path this week. I am truly thankful for them.

And when I am stressed or anxious, yoga breathing helps me calm down and relax. So thankful for yoga breathing.

Have an inspiring, Zen and helpful day.

Warm Regards

Thankful Thursday - November 4

I thought so much of my dad today and all the memories came flooding back. So today's Thankful Thursday is dedicated to family.

My dad was the most loving and kind human being I have ever known.   All I have learned in life, I have learned from him. He was my rock and guiding star. He was the one constant thing in my life someone I could always depend on and when he died I was shattered. But I know that he left me a legacy of strength, courage, kindness and love. And that everything he taught me will be enough to take me forward in my life. I am so thankful and lucky to have had a dad like him. My post on Appreciate Life and my blog Photos are Fun are dedicated to him. Be at peace dad.

I am so thankful that my mother is here with me, alive and well. When dad taught me how to live an earthly existence, my mother has taught me the Spiritual side of life. That's not to say that dad was not Spiritual, he was just silent in his faith. Mum is the perfect half of dad, heaven and earth, the perfect balance for me.

My children are my strength and joy. Their love and respect for me is unconditional. Just a hug or a smile is enough to lift my spirits. They are the essence of my soul. I am so blessed and so thankful to have such beautiful children. My post last week also gave thanks to them - they mean so much to me.

Wish you all a beautiful day.

Warm Regards

Thankful Thursday - 27 October

I've spent a lot of time catching up with friends in the last week. I love this quote from Oprah "Lots of people want to ride with you in the limo, but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down". Amazing how many friends you have when you're riding the limo and how quickly they disappear when the bus comes along. So thankful for these lovely friends that take the bus with me.

Good health is something we take for granted until something happens. Had a bit of a scare last week with my eye and I'm so relieved that all is well. So thankful for good health.

My kids are my strength and joy. Whenever I'm down they lift my spirits and cheer me up. A hug is enough to brighten my day. So thankful and blessed to have such lovely kids.

The last 2 days I've been up and down. Just felt like I'd hit a wall and this afternoon I prayed for guidance. The Universe replied via so many nice blog posts. All providing the message (in different ways) to feel the fear but do it anyway, to have the faith and jump, visualise the life you want and know that it is yours. So thankful that the answers always come.

Wish you all good health, good friends, loving kids (for those who have them or wish for them), and answers to prayers.

Warm Regards

Thankful Thursday - 13 October

Usually towards the end of the year, the job market dries up and with the elections coming up in November, the biggest industry here - the Government is starting to put projects on hold. But I am ever so grateful that so many agencies have called with potential jobs. Crossing fingers that one of them will come through for me.

It's such a thrill to have a world cup sporting event held in your country. The Rugby World Cup is underway in New Zealand. So grateful to get a chance to be part of it. The semi finals are on Sunday - New Zealand vs Australia. Go New Zealand. It will be an even bigger thrill watching NZ play in the finals. So excited.

After my dad passed away about 1.5 years ago, each time a relative lands into hospital I get quite anxious. So glad my uncle recovered quickly.

Wishing you all a day of marvellous opportunities and good health.

Thankful Thursday - 29 September

So many good things have happened this week.

My inner spirit soars and I am so grateful to all my kindred spirits.

My series Paint Write and Be Grateful (PWG) focussed on the month's grateful events, thoughts etc, But I think I need to do that more often so I am starting a new series Thankful Thursday that uses the same theme as my PWG series.

I will post my Thankful Thursdays each fortnight so I can continue with my Thursday Thoughts every other fortnight.

So here is the first one in my new series.

I am so thrilled today that another one of my posts got featured in HerFuture's Blogs we Dig.
Check them out at My featured blogs

The weather here is so awesome today. The sun is shining, not a cloud in the sky and no wind. And anyone who lives here will know that no wind is rare! As we say down here ... It's a cracker.

So have a sun-shiney, spirit-soaring day.

Warm Regards
