Day 24 A to Z Challenge 2015 - eXit 

Ravana knew not who he faced

He laughed at the man with the bow

But death was ready to him embrace

At Rama's command from below

At last the demon fell to his death

As arrows pierced his body

Rama gave him due respect

Divine love even for the enemy

Ravana could not see the divinity in Rama and thought himself invincible. Rama gave Ravana many chances to surrender Sita.

Ravana was highly knowledgeable and intelligent but lost his way and used his knowledge and intelligence in the wrong way.  Rama gave Ravana many chances to surrender Sita and tried to get him back on track several times and only destroyed him when the demon stubbornly refused.

It was only at the point of death that Ravana realised that he faced Lord Vishnu in the form of Rama. As he fell he looked at Rama and called out his name. The ever forgiving Rama gave the demon due respect. Divine love shining through for all.

Lord Rama's name is bliss. It brings us peace. He loves us unconditionally and forgives us if we truly repent our misdeeds, seek forgiveness and takes steps to redeem.

So how will Rama and Sita react when they face each other again? Brought by the letter Y.

Love is in the air. May you always feel that Divine love. May His name always bring you peace. May you use your knowledge wisely.

The Ramayana is a historical chronicle of events during the life of Lord Rama in an ancient time in a land called Bharatvarsh a part of which is now modern day India. 

This year's theme was given to me through meditation. But more than just a theme I was also asked to write this from the perspective of Divine love and not just a recounting of the events as they took place. Hence the essence of my posts is "Love is in the air".

The individual theme and tone of my verses are also given to me. And I try to convey what Spirit wants to say through my poetry and prose. In essence, I only transcribe what is given to me, the author of these posts is my soul, the Universe, God and Goddess.

Love is in the Air - Unwavering

Day 21 A to Z Challenge 2015 - Unwavering

Jatayu watited for his Rama
To give him an important clue
On hearing this Rama lost his calm
And roared to Ravana mrityu (death)

Sita unwavering and scornful

Ravan's rage at the point of harm

Meditative and thoughtful

Her soul reached out to Rama

Through veils unseen Rama felt her beseech

He looked up towards the heavens

Commanding all to Sita reach

Protect her from the demons

Ravana carried Sita over the sea in his Pushpak Viman (aircraft) to his golden city of Lanka. On the way the vulture king Jatayu tried hard to save Sita but Ravana cut off his wing and he felt to the ground critically injured. The dying Jatayu waited for Rama to provide him with the details of Ravana forcefully taking Sita, Sita crying out for Rama and the direction they went in.

On hearing this Rama is both sad and very angry. He cannot bear the thought of Sita scared and crying out in fear, pleading with the demon. With a twang of his bow that rocked the earth and shook the skies and reverberated across the Universe, Rama vows death for Ravana. Citizens of the Universe rejoice, for hope arises that Ravana's reign of terror will soon end.

Ravana took Sita to his island of Lanka, He placed her in the Ashok Vatika (garden) guarded by fierce looking demonesses. He tried very hard to win Sita, but Sita loved only Rama. Ravana was beginning to lose his patience. He was agitated and getting angrier by the day. In contrast Sita was firm but calm. Sita's soul reached out to Rama. She had every confidence in Rama that someday he would come and rescue her. Sita found strength and solace in meditation.

Rama could sense Sita reaching out to him. Though we are all in physical manifestations, a part of our spirit remains in spirit world. When we connect with our higher selves, it is our spirit we connect with. Rama tapped into his own and Sita's spirit - Vishnu and Lakshmi - and prayed for Sita's safety. And the heavens moved to Rama's command.

Sita prayed that Rama would find her and that he would find helpers along the way. And the heavens moved to Sita's command.

How did the heaven's move?  That's  brought to you by the letter V.

Love is in the air. Know that whenever we ask the Divine for help, it is always lovingly given though it may not be in the way we expect. And know that there are helpers on the other side taking care of us.

Love is in the Air - Trickery

Day 20 A to Z Challenge 2015 - Trickery

Ravana vowed that spurn to avenge

A golden deer he sent

Rama took up the challenge

For Sita's heart on it was set

Rama's arrow struck the golden deer
It screamed out mimicking Rama
Sita anxious filled with fear
Sent Lakshman without a qualm 

Ravana watched Lakshman leave his guard

Then Sita he did trick and abduct

Rama heartbroken and alarmed

His soul into pieces struck

Divinity forgotten

Forgetting divine plans

Rama grief stricken

Fell to his knees with head in hands

Had to write 4 verses for this one, I just couldn't compress it into 2.

Shoorpnakha took her sad tale to Ravana. She knew that Ravana would be furious and would attack Rama. But she wanted Rama and she thought the only way she would get him was if Sita was no longer in the picture.

Women were Ravana's weakness so Shoorpnakha spoke of Sita's beauty. She cleverly ignited his desire for Sita. And so Ravana went to abduct Sita.

But that wasn't an easy thing to do if Rama and Lakshman were at Sita's side so Ravana engaged in trickery. He ordered a shape shifting demon Mareech to change into a golden deer and lure Rama away from the hut. As expected Sita was enchanted by the deer and asked Rama to get it for her. Rama sensed something was afoot as a golden deer seemed unreal but Sita was adamant and Rama could not refuse. Mareech lured Rama a safe distance from the hut and then as Rama's arrow struck him, he cried out to Lakshman and Sita.

Sita was in such a state of panic that she would not listen to reason. Rama had ordered Lakshman to guard Sita and not move from her side. But Sita fearful for Rama, sent Lakshman to help Rama. She had no fear for herself only for Rama.

Lakshman drew a protective boundary around the hut and asked Sita not to step outside the boundary. As long as she stayed within, she would be safe. Ravana approached Sita in the disguise of a sage and asked for some alms. While she went inside, Ravana tried to cross the line but was unable to. So he waited at a distance from the boundary and asked Sita to step outside and serve him or face his wrath as a curse for Rama. Sita, fearful once again for Rama steps outside the protective boundary and is abducted by Ravana.

When Rama and Lakshman return, Sita is nowhere to be found. Rama finds fruits and flowers strewn outside the hut and fears the worst. His heart is shattered. He sinks to the ground in despair and loses his composure. Losing Sita was like losing his own life. Lakshman comforts Rama. In times like these, it is Lakshman who steps up and props Rama, who motivates him and encourages him not to give up.

One brother follows the path of revenge and desire, the other follows the path of love, motivates and encourages.

Love is in the Air - Assessing Creation

Day 1 A to Z Challenge 2015 - Assessing Creation

Lord Vishnu watched King Dasharath

Ayodhya he did rule

He also watched his beloved Earth

Wrecked by Ravana the fool

Earth Goddess cried out in despair

Oh Lord I'm being torn apart

The blood of mankind fills the air

Destroyed is my soul and heart

If you haven't already worked out the epic event that my theme this year is based on, it is one of the greatest historical epics of India, The Ramayana which is the story of Lord Rama. It chronicles events during the life of Lord Rama in an ancient time in a land called Bharatvarsh a part of which is now modern day India.

And you may remember reading in my theme reveal post that this year's theme was given to me through meditation. But more than just a theme I was also asked to write this from the perspective of Divine love and not just a recounting of the events as they took place. Hence the essence of my posts is "Love is in the air".

I also add that the individual theme and tone of my verses are also given to me. And I try to convey what Spirit wants to say through my poetry and prose. In essence, I only transcribe what is given to me, the author of these posts is my soul, the Universe, God and Goddess.

My opening lines are based on a Divine assessment of His creation, setting the scene for His Divine plan, setting up opportunities for karmic destinies, setting the scene to portray Divine love. Note that Lord Vishnu assesses Ravana as foolish rather than a horrible or terrible being. Divinity showing love for all creation.
