Taking Stock of Perfection #vlog #mixedmedia #morselmashups 5

One of the things we should constantly do is take stock of our beliefs, our desires, our needs as these are ever changing.

I am forever evaluating or taking stock of my understanding of perfection. Perhaps the competitive schooldays set a path for always attaining a level that inevitably is just too hard to achieve.

In trying to reach that level of perfection, you unfortunately set yourself up for failure. And in trying to reach that bar, you more often than not, forget to enjoy the journey, the learning.

My obsession with perfection ended when I started my "tryst" with arts and crafts.

So grab a cuppa and join me on the creation of Morsel Mashup 5 and what art has taught me.

What beliefs have you recently taken stock of? Share in the comments.

I've been neglecting my art work so I thought I should pick that up again. I am trying to follow the Morsel Mashups which is a mixed media challenge hosted by Cat Hand on her youtube channel.

This post was written for the #LifeThisWeek prompt Taking Stock hosted by Denyse Whelan.

  4. I reflect and realise that I gave myself a hard time at perfectionism in the past. I have relaxed a little, but still have that drive. But I am OK with achieving, without being perfectly perfect.

    1. Yes, every now and then we should play a little - let our inner child surface. Thanks for dropping by.

  6. I so get this. I do many arty/crafty things and enjoy them but the minute they become about product or getting it right, the enjoyment is replaced by stress. So now I know full well it is best to enjoy the process and if the product is also good, win! if not, I have learned something.
Thank you for linking up for #lifethisweek. Next week's optional prompt is "My Home Country" 28/52. Denyse x

    1. Thanks Denyse. So true that when we focus on getting it right, we forget to enjoy the process. Will look forward to linking up again next week.

  7. Looks like a lovely artwork, Suzy! Good that you like to introspect on things that need to change over time. I do that a lot too, especially with regard to focussing more on making life more meaningful by cutting the drama out of my life and learning to say No when I absolutely must. So far so good! I'm better off this way.

  9. I loved your creation and also the thought that perfection isn't everything.

  10. I loved the artwork, Suzy! You are right, perfection isn't everything. Immersing oneself in any form of art will help in finding liberation without focusing on perfection.

    1. Thanks Vinitha. So true, art in particular is so individual that there is really no definition of perfection.

  11. That's a lovely creation, Suzy. I come from a long line of perfectionists, and it's been hard to let go of that, but, I'm finding the older I get, the more relaxed my standards become. ☺

    1. Thanks Debbie. Yes very true that perfectionism is hard to let go but so liberating once done.

  12. I loved the thought that one needs to take stock of ones desires and beliefs. True also that the hunger for perfection makes us enjoy our journey much less! That's one topic I keep fighting with myself over. Trying to be perfect takes its toll and yet I strive for it!
Loved the art work. Easy to make and quite the distraction one needs amidst the chaos all around! :)
