Art Journaling is happiness ... #vlog #chaiwithsuzy #SuzysIlation #FridayReflections

Some years ago, inspired by YouTube art journals, I decided to start art journaling.

But the journey started in December of 2015 when I walked into a bookshop and found a set of 3 mini journals that were so cute, I had to buy them. I had no idea what I would use them for but they were just too cute to resist.

One of these became my art journal.

So grab a cuppa and join me in a flip through of some of the pages ...

On my youtube channel:    https://youtu.be/neXfXO04mac

Unfortunately I had to use still photos because the film came up with a weird shimmer that was quite hurtful to the eyes. I tried many times but couldn't make it go away. Might be the type of paper in the journal.

But regardless, I hope you enjoyed today's vlog. Let me know in a comment, which page you liked the best.

And if you are interested in the story mentioned in my vlog, here is the link to For I Have Talked With God

I have a lot of fun with my art journaling. Art and crafts in general always make me feel happy.

Some other things that make me happy are:

Crafting - I love making cards

Hills and Mountains - bring me a sense of peace

Board and Card games - playing with the family is fun and relaxing

Walking in nature - always exhilarating

Chai (tea brewed the Indian way) - always relaxes me

Vlogging and Blogging - challenges me to think beyond the usual

Photography and Filming - capturing moments in time I can remember forever

Farmer's market on a nice day - fun and colourful and has a high energy buzz

Ice cream - no explanations needed :)

I have to add music, how could I not. Well that makes it 11 but does it matter?

Be happy, stay happy.

  1. Love, love the colours, Suzy. I'm not sure if you were talking on this video, but I couldn't hear it.
Your list of 'happies' made me happy!

    1. Thanks Corinne. I was talking and it's pretty loud on my computer - the audio is one part I just can't seem to get right!

  2. Forgive my ignorance, but before I read this post, I had no idea what an art journal was. That being said, I loved your journal. My favorite page was the one with the quote about seeing the big picture because under the chaos, there is order. The plastic wrap background one was an interesting creation too.

  3. I really enjoyed your art journal. It was full of bright colors and happiness. I keep a visual journal. It's a small moleskine book that I carry in my purse. Whenever I get the chance, I draw in it and add a few words. It's a great way to express yourself with words and pictures.

  5. What a beautiful journal. You are very talented. I have a bullet journal I use and illustrate with colored pencils. I don't have anywhere near your talent for art, but nonetheless, my journal makes me so happy. I love opening it and using the different charts/lists of goals/etc.

  8. Loved your video! To be honest, it makes me miss journalling. I've never been a great drawer or decorator of pages, so I think I just gave up. You've inspired me to just do it, and worry less about the outcome.

    1. Thanks Melissa. Yes, just do it. When I first started I thought my art was just junk but I think we are our harshest critics. Go for it.

  9. Ooooh! I love this idea. I "doodle" around the edges of my journal pages and I often write in bubble writing and colour it in on my to-do lists. So this is right up my alley! #teamlovinlife

    1. Thanks Leanne. I love doodling too - now they have a fancy name for it Zentangling.

  10. Doodling is a great way as per zen theory to get out the negative energy and bring in more positivity. It sounds so nice to read your efforts working towards positivity.

    1. Thanks Ramya, Yes true doodling is very relaxing - no wonder they've now renamed it zentangling.

  11. When I first read about Art Journalling it did not seem to fit me. I tried and then I said "no, find your own way" and that is what I do now. I carry a mini art kit with a moleskin story board book in it and write and draw and do lettering and it is a most mindful activity.

  13. You're so talented Suzy! I'm just trying to make a little photo-based scrapbook at the moment and I'm so hopeless. If you were to open it, you'd think a 7-year-old had done it. So I'm loving your art journal! #lifethisweek

  14. I've never tried art journalling maybe because I don't think I'm very good at drawing. You might have inspired me to start!
