Where did those happy childhood days go?
Life was simple then and uncomplicated
There was a skip in my step and a song in my heart
With a teddy bear or a doll tucked under my arm
A cute little puppy as a companion
I was a happy child, a smile on my face all day
I loved making little books and dolls clothes
I could go to the shops in my pyjamas and people found that cute
I could sing badly at the top of my voice and be applauded
I felt safe and loved
And life was good
So where did those happy childhood days go?
Those nostalgic moments ... gone but not forgotten
Let the moments fill you - the ones you judge to be good as well as bad

Beautiful lines Suzy...childhood days were carefree and lovely. Sometimes I wonder why I wanted so badly to be an adult back then as now I find adulting so damn hard!
ReplyDeleteI wonder that too. Being an adult is not easy being a parent is even harder. But nevertheless, enjoy life the best you can.
DeleteA lovely, reflective poem. Beautiful images!
ReplyDeleteThanks Nick. Glad you liked it.
DeleteLovely lines Suzy. It is good to have you back :) I did wonder about your absence once or twice. Hope life's being good to you.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bhavya. Just going through some stuff and blogging took a back seat
DeleteThose were such happy days...and not so long agp..and I wonder where they've gone?
ReplyDeleteBut, they're back again..just like a long lost friend.
This song by Carpenters, pooped up in my head as I read your lines...lovely.
I'm sure those days..simpler ones will back again too :-)
You chose the perfect song to accompany my post. Thanks SlimExpectations.

DeleteLovely poem, Suzy. Childhood days were such carefree times. It’s good to look back with gratitude. 😀
ReplyDeleteThanks Vinitha. It is good to look back but not dwell too much on it otherwise sadness creeps in for happy days gone by.
DeleteWell expressed Suzy- childhood days had such freedom that we could literally be the queens of our world. Sadly at that time all we yearned was to grow up and be free!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Shalz. Why did we ever yearn to grow up and be free?
DeleteWhat would we do to go back to our childhood!! Lovely lines Suzy
ReplyDeleteChildhood memories are indeed nostalgic, nice poem.
ReplyDeleteIf only we could be children forever! They're the best days of our lives. I loved the moments you picked Suzy.
ReplyDeleteHow true, Suzy! We could roam around in our pyjamas and no one bothered...we could play all day and mum never had to worry...where did those days go?
