Mantra Motivation

Every once in a while the urge to get fit takes over and I start on a new exercise regime.

But I can never seem to keep it going.

Either I get bored with it or my body protests vehemently that it's too arduous and actually detrimental to my well-being. And long hours of exercising is simply not sustainable.

Inevitably frustration sets in and I cross it out as another failed attempt.

Then I found Tabata. 5 minutes a day.  I can manage that.

Will it work? Won't know till I try.

So for now Tabata is my daily exercise mantra.

Started my Tabata regime on Saturday. So far so good. 5 minutes of high intensity interval training sounds easy, trust me, it is not.

    1. So far so good Shilpa. I'm enjoying my 5 mins a day. Good luck with the walking. I love walking too but the weather here is so unpredictable that an indoor backup option is good to have.

    1. Hi Susan, you can pretty much do any exercise like an aerobic workout but with 20 secondss of high intensity and 10 seconds of rest. I used to do karate and kick boxing so I use those moves.

    1. Hi Aditi, dancing definitely classifies as a fitness routine - probably one of the most effective.

    1. Hi Ann, if you search youtube for Tabata you'll find heaps of videos there. I watched a few then decided on my routine.

  7. Well I finally found something that works for us. My hubby and I swim 3-4 times a week, I am up to 12 laps and the body is shaping up. The weight has not gone down because muscle is so much heavier, however I like what I see in the mirror more. I've not heard of this new thing.

    1. HI Ann. The trick is to find what works for you so if it's swimming then that's the one. :)

    1. Hi Obsessivemom - me too, tried it all. The only ones that worked for me and enjoyed too were karate and kick boxing but unfortunately my back won't allow such rigorous exercises now so Tabata is my compromise.
