This Elf was Serenely Rapt

It's nearly Christmas and Santa's little elves are busy checking the lists, packing up gifts. The North Pole is buzzing with activity.

Then Santa sent an SOS for a little help with a different kind of present: The Indiblogeshwari's That Tuesday Thingy Christmas Edition. And so these special elves enthusiastically volunteered to help Santa make these dreams come true.

I waited excitedly for my secret envelope to arrive and then got to work ...

It's my pleasure to introduce Dagny's blog "Serenely Rapt" which is a collection of many penned thoughts in a wide array of genres including stories (fiction and non-fiction), insights and inspiration, tributes and life. In short, Serenely Rapt is a versatile blog that provides something for everyone.

Dagny writes with such passion, be it a political viewpoint or taking a political stand, or an introduction to another blogger or a story, or a poem or just some inspiration. Each post is cleverly woven together and culminates in a pearl of wisdom.

And now and then there is an injection of humour that is very appealing. Humour used well, is very effective in telling a story, used badly is a put off. Dagny uses humour in just the right doses to describe a situation or convey a point of view.

With a mastery over vocabulary, posts portray an array of emotions and each one took me on an interesting and vivid journey, leaving me with some food for thought.

The blog is visually appealing. Clean, clear and crisp with a beautiful header that complements the name of this blog. Posts are nicely catalogued and easy to find and each post contains a well thought out picture that visually portrays the essence of the post.

I was ... serenely rapt.

This elf made it just in time. One special gift signed, sealed and delivered. But many more wishes to send off to the world ...

Wish you all Peace, Joy and Love this Christmas and always. Have a Blessed one.

The Time Traveller

"What should I write?" was the thought that crossed my mind as I opened up a new post and started to blog. So I closed my eyes and let the music fill my soul. It took me to a place somewhere in time ...

I sat by the banks of the river, the name eludes me, all I know is this was the river of love.

Dawn was about to break and in a short while I watched the sun rise magnificently over the horizon and fill the land with a golden glow. It was silent and the earth was awakening. The waters gently lapped the shores, the trees danced in the light cool breeze, the flowers opened up slowly and filled the air with their refreshing fragrance.

This was the moment when peacefulness filled my mind and I soaked in the beauty of the earth.

And then I heard the haunting sound of the flute. Its melody pervaded every corner of my soul. It was intoxicating. I felt transported into another place, another world and for a moment of time, it was as if the universe stood still.

And in this transcendental state I felt the joy in my heart and an overflowing of love in my soul. A moment of indescribable bliss.

The music fades and my fingers tap the keyboard. My garden looks pretty and a cool breeze is blowing. The world looks beautiful but I long to be there again, by the banks of the river of love and hear the haunting melody of the flute.

The light pitter-patter of the raindrops entices me into the garden. I hold out my hands and look Heavenward, my eyes closed, feeling the refreshing water splash softly on my face and palms.

I open my eyes slowly and there in my open palm lies the most beautiful peacock feather. A smile spreads slowly across my face and my joy abounds.

Then the sound of the flute begins again.

The prompt:
So for this week we have this video for you. Listen to it. Hear it with your soul and then let the words flow. We are not looking at a synopsis of the video. No sir. What we want is “Did this song talk to you?” And if it did, what was THAT story? Tell us in about 499 words or less.

Also linking up to The Thursday Writers Post Blog Hop - Meeting my Memories is hosted by Michele at Muses from the Deep. Perhaps this is a true memory - who knows - but it is a memory I would like to have.

Have a blissful day.

The Elusive One

Happy Birthday to the Indiblogeshwaris - a group of Indian bloggers from all around the world.

The theme to celebrate our first birthday masterminded by BlogwatiG was "The Elusive One" and the instructions were:

Turn it or twist it the way you look at it. Take on a challenge. Adopt a good habit. Get rid of a bad one. Change something. Write a new chapter. Read a new book. Listen to a new song. Anything, almost anything singular that you've been putting off for too long. You have a month to do it and then tell us about it.

Unfortunately for me, the singular something that needed to be planned and then carried out is in itself The Elusive One - I can never pin down a plan.

As soon as I start to plan on something, I can almost be assured that the Universe will have it's own plan. If I go right, it will almost inevitably yank me to the opposite side and it takes intense delight in derailing my best laid plans. So instead I decided to go with the flow and see the month of May evolve ...

I read a romance novel after what seems like hundreds of years. Paula Martin's Her Only Option was a delightful read that's set in Egypt and that made it a little more interesting and romantic. I never thought I would read a romance novel again particularly since most of my reading in the last 10 or so years has been of a spiritual nature. It was refreshing and joyful to read something so different and light hearted.

About the middle of March this year I started up a poetry blog with no plan again in mind. Poetry for me is something that I write spontaneously - some months the words just overflow and then for months sometimes years, the creative thoughts dry up and hide somewhere. So whenever a prompt brought forth a torrent of words, I went with it. And then I stumbled upon "Verse First". I wasn't sure if I could keep up the momentum of posting each week but the creative juices just seem to flow and the comments kept coming - great encouragement for me to keep going. So here are my May Poetry Posts - I managed a post a week.

Photography is a great passion of mine. I've held a camera in my hand ever since I can remember. It's a real test of will power to not walk into a camera shop or buy a camera online. But my trusty little Canon S-80 was getting a little tired and I've been contemplating buying a new camera. But something or the other would come up and the camera would take a back seat. Then in the last week of May, the camera I had my eye on was advertised at half price and so I grabbed it. And with it a Nikon (also on half price) for my son.  Here's a pic I took with the Nikon on the last day of May. Couldn't resist taking it. The sky looked so spectacular.

I believe that when the time is right, things fall into place or come together.

And that is so true of the Indiblogeshwaris or at least for my linking in with this awesome group of ladies. My heartfelt thanks to Corinne Rodrigues who blogs at Everyday Gyaan for introducing me to the group. The support I've got from them is phenomenal. Thank you beautiful ladies.

And thanks to Garima Obrah for this awesome collage.

Have a beautiful day.

Rose petals at your feet

I walk towards you, rose petals in the palm of my hand. I do not know who you are as I cannot see your face. The light is dazzling and it blinds me.

Something compels me to walk towards you, propels me towards you. I am drawn into a strong vortex like a magnet that pulls me in.

My heart beats fast and strong and yet I am calm and serene. Does that make sense at all? Probably not in this physical plane of existence. But somewhere out there it all makes sense.

Perhaps at the back of my mind I know of your existence or perhaps it is my soul that recognises you. In this moment, however, it matters not.

I crouch low and place my rose petals at your feet. I know not why only that I must. At the very moment when my hands touch your feet, I feel the joy surge through my veins, I feel your power and your love.

I look up and behold the most beautiful face one can ever imagine. Your mesmerising eyes take a hold of mine and in them I see my entire existence, the world and the universe. And in that instance I know that I have lived a multitude of lifetimes in many dimensions and many universes with you.

You speak, but I cannot hear the words. You pick up a petal and place it in my hand. A gift to remind me of a moment sublime.

The beep beep beep of the alarm clock shakes me out of my reverie. I slowly open my eyes and smile. Was that real or was that a figment of my imagination? Was that a dream or did I travel somewhere into another world?

I realise my fist is tightly clenched, I slowly open up my fingers. A single rose petal lies in my hand and its fragrance is intoxicating.

The events of the night replay like a fast paced movie. I am in heaven and my joy abounds. But what did you say? Oh what did you say?

Then the words "Blessings to you"  flashes across my mind.

~x~

Here's hoping dreams do come true for me and you.
