Blogfest - Creeping Obesity

Stuart is the host of this prompt for Blogfest 2012

I was a chubby kid, a chubby teenager, and now I am a chubby adult. The bmi indicator says I'm obese. - utter rubbish! How can a uk size 14 (us size 12) be obese?

There have been times in my life when I've looked at my weight as a problem but now over the years I have learned to live with it.

I exercise to keep fit, I eat healthy and within limits, I get a good night's sleep, I don't smoke nor do I drink alcohol, and I meditate to find the peace within.

There was a time during my late teens and early twenties when I lost a lot of weight - and standing on the scale I was perfect for my height. I was skin and bone, I looked dreadful and malnutritioned, I looked half dead.  But my height-weight-bmi was perfect.

I got out of that madness as fast as I could - chubby looked and felt good.

So my chubbiness no longer bothers me.

Being healthy and fit is my aim - having the perfect height-weight-bmi score is not.

Enjoy life.  Wishing you all good health and happiness.

Warm Regards

  2. I am not a fan of scales or sizes what feels good is what matters and even though yes I could afford to lose some pounds I would rather not be so miserable that I am lacking enjoying life. love the posts :) ~Janice~

    1. Thanks Janice. I'm with you on the scales and sizes. Life was meant to be enjoyed. We actually put stress on ourselves when we are scale and size conscious and stress makes us eat more and hence put on weight. Enjoy life is the way to go. Thanks for visiting.

  3. I'm learning to look at my blood work (with my doctor) rather than the scale. Turns out my numbers are really good now!!

    1. Great to hear that Jenn. I'm all for health and fitness not scales and size.

  4. A person has to be realistic. When I was younger I was skinny, but looking back I looked awful and not healthy at all. Great post!

  5. I could relate to this post! I've been working out and eating right for some time now and have only seen the scale drop just a little! I used to check the scale every time when I go to the gym and confess I still do most of the time but have been trying to check it less and less. Our society can be so wrapped up in image and numbers. The thing is, I am more flexible and strong then ever and my clothes fit better. I'll never be what this world considers "perfect" but as long as I'm healthy and feel healthy, I've learned to be at peace with who I am. I think one can be unhealthy at any size..small or large...So it's not necessarily the size that matters, it's our lifestyle habits.

Good for your for being comfortable in the skin you're in. :)
