ABC Wednesday - Round 10 - X is for ...

Xmas Songs

I couldn't think of any songs that start with X so Xmas songs seemed to be the best thing to do for this prompt.
So here are my favourite Xmas songs.

O Holy Night

Was composed by Adolphe Adam in 1847. The carol reflects the birth of Jesus and of mankind's redemption. It has been recorded by many artists including Luciano Pavarotti, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Andrea Bocelli, and Josh Groban.

But today I share Rhema Marvanne's version.

Mary did you know

Was written by Mark Lowry and Buddy Greene.
Also recorded by many artists like New Zealander Haley Westerna.
Here is Donny Osmond's version.

O Come All Ye Faithful - Adeste Fideles

Adeste Fideles was written around the 13th century and attributed to John of Reading though John Francis Wade was probably the author.

The English translation O Come All Ye Faithful was written by the English Catholic priest Frederick Oakeley.

It's one of my favourite carols.

  2. Well, Suzy we are certainly on the same page when it comes to Christmas music. Three of my favorites too. We had a men's quartet sing Mary did you Know, and it was so beautiful, not a dry eye in the Church.
