A is for ... ANGEL

Thought I would start the challenge with a song.

The song Angel was recorded and released by Elvis Presley in 1961 for the movie "Follow that Dream". It also featured on the album C'mon Everybody.

Angel was not one of his top hits, but it is one of my favourite Elvis songs.

In the last few days, wherever I turn, there seems to be something regarding Angels so I thought this would be a good song to start off with (though the song isn't quite about those lovely angelic beings).

And this quote jumped out at me which also confirms that a song is the way to start

"Music is well said to be the speech of angels.  ~Thomas Carlyle"

I was going to limit this post to a song, but I have a great urge to talk about the Divine Angels too - that is my experience with them or one in particular. So must go with that.

 Ever since I was very little, I believed that each of us has a Guardian Angel - even though no one ever told me or spoke of it. And I used to think that our life was that Angel's dream and when our angel stopped dreaming, we died!

Angels exist in every culture and there is often an angel that one is drawn too and mine is Archangel Chamuel, the Loving Angel. Chamuel's name means "He who sees God" or "He who seeks God".

I really did not know of his existence or for that matter any of the Archangels as my belief in angels was more at a generic level. But in meditating one day a few years ago, the name "Chamuel" came to me.

Chamuel always brings peace to my soul. And he comes to me whenever I'm trying hard to connect to my Lord but struggle to do so or when a life changing event is about to occur (and that makes me wonder why he came to me today).

In my mind I see him as a youthful and very handsome angel. I tried to find a picture and this one came closest to how I imagine Archangel Chamuel.

Today I am grateful for angels who watch over us and for Archangel Chamuel who comforts me.

Six Word Saturday - Meditation

Six Word Saturday

Meditation brings peace for a while

I love meditating. In the midst of turmoil, it brings peace to my mind for those few moments.

Yesterday was my dad's death anniversary and I've been restless and jittery since then. Don't know why.  I feel out of synch with the Universe today. So this afternoon I did a 15 minute meditation to clear any negative energies, release blocks. Wow that was so powerful.

I've been meditating for many years now but it's rare that I can feel something. I usually feel great after meditating but don't always feel or see anything. But today was a day to feel it.

When I started I could feel a huge weight just below my throat chakra - like a large, heavy hand on me. And then towards the end of the meditation I could feel it lift off. I've never had that before.

I felt great for sometime and then the restlessness started again. So I'll probably do it again tonight.

Travel and Food

Yesterday we went to Otaki a little town about an hour's drive from Wellington. We went fruit and vegetable picking and on our way back after spending an afternoon in the sun (and the sun in NZ really burns), we stopped by to have some  local home made ice-cream with fresh fruit.

(my 6 words for 6 word Saturday)

Quite interesting to watch as instead of the usual fruit and scoops, this place blends it all together to create a thick smooth ice-cream. You choose the fruits, the ice cream flavour and any other toppings.  

So I chose strawberries and bananas with chocolate ice-cream and topping of nuts. Came out with quite an interesting flavour. Predominantly strawberry with a hint of banana kind of as an after-taste.

Wherever I travel, I like to taste the local Chinese cuisine. Sounds crazy? Actually in each place the Chinese food tastes different. Perhaps I'm biased, but I think the Chinese food in Mumbai tastes the best. 

Which leads me onto my favourite Indian food. And on each of my visits to India, these are the foods I enjoy and must have -  the yummiest food ever.
