In the shadows of silence I sat and pondered. I always thought that plans were my strength. I was good at making them and I had the determination to pursue them. I could plan at work and steer my team to achieve and I had lofty personal dreams.
I had scribbled many notes on pieces of paper. Each month shaped and described. But as the years went by and plans fell to pieces, disappointment took a hold and the dreams started to fade.
Then from the shadows the silent Universe whispered, "The Divine plans and you must go with that plan". Of course I ignored those wise words and persisted in following my plans. After all I knew better than the Universe didn't I? But the Universe whispered again and again, "Go then with your plan, but be prepared for the U turn". And many a U turn I did make.
I guess at some moment in time a thought took over, perhaps I grew wiser, perhaps the Universe persisted from the silent shadows until I was compelled to listen and follow. And so I threw away the oars, crumpled up my papers, and followed the plan the Divine set out for me.
And now I sit and ponder in the shadows of silence that life is indeed more peaceful and enjoyable and meaningful because the Divine plans for me and I go with that plan.

Suzy, Yes! The Divine Father God does plan our days, months, and years. He does allow us free will to choose paths along the way, but I think U turns are great! They circle us back to the correct path sometimes. We are all on such an incredible journey. I pray you continue to see The Divine path for your life. I will be looking for my own needed U turns today! Jenn, Five Minute Friday neighbor
ReplyDeleteThanks Jennifer. We are indeed on an incredible journey. If we need a U turn, may it be a short, swift one. thanks for dropping by and many blessings.
DeleteWell said, Suzy. There were occasions where I was certain, I really did know better than the Universe :P But then we live and learn. Like you said, life is indeed more peaceful and meaningful, when we accept the divine plan :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Shanaya Sometimes we learn the very hard way. But following a Divinely orchestrated plan can never be detrimental to us.
DeleteInteresting. ☺ Yes, life is full of U turns, crossroads and bumps.
ReplyDeleteSometimes just a bit too many Debbie. Thanks for dropping by.
DeleteYes, sometimes we think we know better don't we? ;) Glad the U turn turned back to square one! ;) <3
ReplyDeleteThanks Elly. I made many U turns and back to square one before moving forward as I should.
DeleteI guess there is always a greater power who knows what is best for us but we just don't learn that soon enough, do we? :)
ReplyDeleteSo true Naba it takes us a long time to learn. But I guess that is also part of life.
DeleteLife's plan is a great concept. I often wonder if the way I threw away my old life and moved to a new country was ordained. What would have happened if I'd stayed? I hope to find out when I pass through heaven's gates.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful and philosophical piece Suzy.
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree that the best made plans of mice and men........There is indeed a Divine plan that guides us all to the path we eventually take.
ReplyDeleteSometimes a power does guide us and turns our paths around. It really is quite amazing that way.
ReplyDeleteGuess the U turns happen for a reason and ultimately empower us on this self discovery journey:)
ReplyDeleteNicely written, Suzy. Sometimes I think that when people say "go with the flow", it is not always easy to do. We are so in the habit of controlling things that we forget how to simply be and led by forces higher than ourselves.
