Reflections on the April 2014 A to Z Challenge
I always enter these monthly challenges with some trepidation. After all a month of daily blogging is a big commitment. But once it starts I always have a good time.
Some of the things I learned from the challenge:
Some regrets:
As always, featuring blogs was a great joy. Check out the blogs I featured:
My theme this year was Life's Jigsaw (a spiritual series). I enjoyed writing this one immensely though it wasn't an easy one to do.
And last but not least thanks to Arlee Bird who is the mastermind behind this challenge. What a great way to discover some new blogs. I look forward to the next A to Z challenge.

I always enter these monthly challenges with some trepidation. After all a month of daily blogging is a big commitment. But once it starts I always have a good time.
Some of the things I learned from the challenge:
- Having a theme was helpful. I also liked the flow from post to post.
- Writing and scheduling posts in advance allowed me to read and comment on other blogs.
- Joining up with some AtoZ groups on facebook helped in keeping the interest and momentum going. I think if I didn't have the support of these awesome groups, I would probably hesitate to participate in the challenge again.
Some regrets:
- Unfortunately with the best of intentions, I was unable to write and schedule all posts in advance so towards the end I was writing daily and that made reading other blogs, commenting and replying quite difficult.
- I would've liked to read way more blogs and I did try to visit many AtoZ participants but there were over 2000 blogs and that would be just impossible to visit. But here is the link to all the participants in case you'd like to drop by and check them out: AtoZ Challenge participants
As always, featuring blogs was a great joy. Check out the blogs I featured:
- Featured Blogs for the A to Z Challenge.
- Also featuring Aditi's Shades of Life. Some amazing stories using colours from A to Z.
- And Beloo's Putting India back into Indian education. Some very thought provoking posts.

Hey Suzy, these were some good reflections on your experience and what you got from the challenge. And I know I am in the same boat, I couldn't visit many blogs but that's how things are...I suppose. We can only do so much in a day :) Thanks for the kind mention. You are very sweet indeed :)

Thanks Beloo. I enjoyed your posts - so much food for thought there. Thanks for being a regular visitor.
DeleteYou did awesome, Suzy! I feel bad that I wasn't able to keep up with commenting too!
ReplyDeleteThanks Roshni. I think we were all in the same boat. Enjoyed your weird and wonderful words.
DeleteI so agree with the theme and scheduling part!! I had scheduled quite a lot of posts earlier but the last few were written a day before and that added so much of stress on me. As one part was working furiously to write and one part yearned to read and comment and respond to comments too. Scheduling the posts in advance, give you a lot of time to interact and network which is the key to this challenge!
ReplyDeleteSo right Shilpa - it's the interacting that is fun. Will have to be even better prepared next time. Thanks so much for visiting every single one of my posts and tweeting them too. You are a start Shilpa.
DeleteHi Suzy; This was my first Challenge and while I enjoyed it, it was exhausting too. I have the same regret of not writing ALL the posts ahead of time and was also scrambling during the second half of the month. Next time, I'll make sure to complete them beforehand. Congratulations on a successful run! ☺
ReplyDeleteThanks Debbie. It's a fun challenge and the FB support groups are great but yes, scheduling all posts ahead of time would be a good idea.
DeleteInspirational posts daily for a month, a dream come true :) thank you for the same. Had a great time reading and interacting with fellow writers all April, keep in touch.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sulekha that's so sweet. Thank you for dropping by and reading every single one of .my posts. Will definitely keep in touch.
DeleteI got sort of stuck in the middle of the challenge when I ran out of posts. Most certainly next year I will have so many more written ahead of time.
ReplyDeleteCongatulations on finishing!!

Thanks Doreen for dropping by. Yes, next year I will also try and write them all in advance and perhaps choose a simpler theme. But it was fun.
DeleteSuzy, I did enjoy reading your posts and have many more to go through still. I began with 2 posts done and so it was a whirlwind of activity and writing:) Next time I will try to have all the posts ready beforehand.
ReplyDeleteGreat thoughts. I agree, writing and scheduling in advance does help, so does a theme. I don't think I would've survived without both of those. Grats on surviving!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on completing the A-Z challenge! I enjoyed each of your insightful posts throughout the month. ♥
ReplyDeleteCongrats on completing the challenge Suzy :) I really like how neatly and in sequence you have put the reflection post...Now I want to go back and organised and add so much more to mine which is so haphazard!

ReplyDeleteCongratulations on completing the challenge.
ReplyDeleteLike you, I didn't get to visit quite as many blogs as I would've liked to, but I'm still working through the Reflections list and then I'll move on to the Road Trip. :-)
Hello there.
