Change Occurs ... #atozchallenge letter C

My theme for the 2017 AtoZ Challenge is "Daily Thoughts".

Each day I will post a thought that comes to mind. The first word of the thought will correspond with the letter of the day.

So here is my thought for the letter C

Change occurs at every moment, every second of your life.

We always think about change when something big occurs. And change is often linked to an event that shakes up our lives, something dramatic, sometimes catastrophic.

This morning as I sipped my tea and gazed out at the hills, suddenly the thought came to me that actually change occurs at every moment, every second. Every movement is a change, every thought is a change.

I thought I was living mindfully but today for the first time, I truly believe I was in that mindful moment, where every thought, every movement meant something to me. Each sip of the tea was different, each thought took me to another place, every moment the clouds changed, and as the sun dipped in and out of the clouds, the shadows or light on the hills changed.

And as I listen to the music now, each song, beat, word creates a change in my vibration. Soft, low, loud, slow, fast, rhythmic changes. Sometimes I sing along if I know the words, at other times I simply move to the beat and my fingers fly around on the keyboard to the rhythm and beat. And at other times I am so engrossed in my writing that the music fades into the background.

Change you sneaky devil

You always did exist

In every thought and movement

In an endless list

I thought you chose your moments

To make yourself known

Dropping in now and then

For many or me alone

But change you are constant

And that's okay with me

You make my life interesting

In a second, two or three.

Poems were not part of the deal this year, but looks like the poet in me wants to emerge (at least for now).

Be like the River ... #atozchallenge letter B

So here is my thought for the letter B

Hutt River, Wellington

Be like the river

Go with the flow

Have you ever wondered why even though you try and try you don't seem to be going anywhere? Or perhaps you are pulled into a direction you really don't want to go but resisting is futile?

It's human nature to have grand plans, starry notions, and ambitious goals but can you paddle upstream that is go against the flow, against the path that nature has set for you?

I have watched many rivers flow by but it is only recently that I've discovered it teaches us many things (one of those aha moments). Its biggest lesson of all is to go with the flow. The river always flows downstream and does not resist its flow. When obstacles come into its path, it simply finds a way to deal with it rather than fighting with it. It either flows around it or forges a new path. The river knows that in the end it will meet with the sea.

Here's a poem I wrote about life and the river. Seems an opportune moment to post this.

Life is like a river

Flowing slow or fast

The course that nature set her

Is her natural path

So many different flavours

The river appears to know

Seems moments that she most savours

Are the jumpy little blows

And thus she laments not

When obstacles arrive

For deftly she maneuvers

And circumvents the strife

The river waits for no one

She takes some on her way

Sometimes they have a little fun

There's time for work and play

If someone tries to stem her flow

She still knows her destiny

The new path also brings her joy

For she always meets the sea

Life is like a river

All Roads Lead to .... #atozchallenge letter A

My theme for the 2017 AtoZ Challenge is "Daily Thoughts".

Each day I will post a thought that comes to mind. The first word of the thought will correspond with the letter of the day.

So here is my thought for the letter A.

All roads lead to your destiny

There are no wrong roads

Ever wondered if you are journeying along the right road?

Or when you reach a crossroad and have to make a choice, ever stood there and wondered which road you should choose?

Until a few years ago, I had the same questions going round in my head. Then one day a friend said to me ... Don't think too hard and long. Because there are no wrong roads. And that is such a liberating thought.

Eventually you will reach the place you are meant to reach. The journey there may be different, but the destination will be the same. Instead of worrying about the choices we make, we should enjoy the journey and savour each moment.

Sometime ago I wrote a poem on my poetry blog Reflections Of My Soul that sums up my thoughts so sharing it here ...

I came upon that forked road

And suddenly I stopped

I couldn't tell which one to take

From one to the other I hopped

The left looked better than the right

Until I stepped upon that path

And then on the other I saw a light

Drawn to it I was like a moth

Take the right no take the left

My mind cried out in glee

Created confusion all around

Like a boat tossed on a rocky sea

In the end it doesn't matter

Whichever one we walk

Each road it leads to our destiny

Move on, don't stop or baulk!
