Life today, in general terms, just seems hectic, stressful, achievement focussed (and I mean big achievements). Everyone seems to want to reach great heights, make a name for themselves, earn the big bucks. Nothing wrong with that, but it makes life a little complicated and quite rest-less.
So how does one relax, refresh and renew? Because without resetting at points in time, in my view, we'll just break.
Everyone has their own reset button. So there is no one size fits all. This post is not advice on what your reset button should look like, but it's about my reset button.
Music, Arts, Crafts, Writing, Walking, Meditation are some of my big reset buttons.
So today on the vlog I share with you a card I made for someone's big O birthday.
Making cards is so much fun. It takes the focus off any persistent issues, and it brings out my creative side. I love paper! So card making is just the perfect thing to do. It also adds a personal touch to the greeting and time invested in it is a way of showing your affection and love for that person.
So grab a cuppa and join me on a fun card making Sunday afternoon.
I hope you enjoyed today's vlog. These are the moments when I am truly loving life.

Rest when you're weary.
Refresh and renew yourself, your body, your mind, your spirit.
Then get back to work.

I enjoyed the vlog. I must say art and craft has been my go to reset button for years too...
ReplyDeleteThanks Pratikshya It is a very relaxing and extremely satisfying hobby to have
DeleteReading and walking is mine. Sometimes it's about emptying the brain and walking does that for me. #TeamLovinLife
ReplyDeleteThanks Jo. Yes, you hit the nail on the head, it is all about emptying the brain.
DeleteThis is amazing, Suzy! I love DIYing when I need to go about with the reset button.
ReplyDeleteThanks Shalini. DIYing is fun.
DeleteI'm pretty bad at art and craft so for me, it would be quite stressful. You make it seem really enjoyable!
ReplyDeleteHi Sanch, I do enjoy arts and crafts but I can see how it would be stressful if you don't like it.
DeleteI'm new to Vlogging Suzy... that was fun thanks!
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked it and thanks for dropping by.
DeleteDoing things in the outdoors like walking, and getting out in nature are good for me. I love a homemade card, so much better than the generic ones from the store.
ReplyDeleteHi Alicia, I love a homemade card too. These days it's all e-cards just doesn't have the same feel or personal touch.
DeleteI'm a walker, and a reader, and a jigsaw do-er, and a blogger, and a napper - all things that I find relaxing :)
ReplyDeleteOh I love jigsaw puzzles too - though sometimes they can get quite stressful.
DeleteYou are quite creative, Suzy. I generally don't enjoy doing craft.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rachna. We all have our own enjoyment activities.
DeleteThe cards look so lovely. You make it look so simple. I love crafting and DIY, I will definitely try this out.
ReplyDeleteThanks Soumya. Do try and then post a picture, I will drop by and see it.
DeleteI used to love making gift cards, but somehow gave it all up when life just took over. I would love to get back to it, and playing guitar too. Your guide makes gift card making look do-able again. Thanks for the inspiration and also for popping over to my blog Lifestyle Fifty earlier :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Jo. With all the equipment available these days, card making has become quite easy. Glad you liked my vlog.
DeleteHi Suzy! Your cards are works of art! I would say what I do to "reset" myself is meditate, or take a walk with my dog and/or husband. I also enjoy music or a good book. I also journal every day which keeps me on track. I think it is important for us all so thank you for the reminder. ~Kathy
ReplyDeleteThanks Kathy. That's such a sweet comment. Meditation is truly relaxing but sometimes difficult to do. I used to journal when I was young and I've tried to start it many times but are unable to sustain it. But while it lasts, it is very therapeutic. Thanks for dropping by.
DeleteThanks for sharing! I really love watching other people craft on Youtube and am going to subscribe to you. I love to art journal and generally make a mess to help me relax - although, my three year old has to do so, too, which makes it less relaxing! I've just finished making a art journal video, I am finding the process of editing and creating videos pretty relaxing, too.
ReplyDelete'an art journal video'
DeleteThanks Becky for visiting, commenting and subscribing to my channel - so thrilled - you are my first subscriber. I love art journalling too and perhaps will share some of my pages in a future vlog. Have subscribed to your channel and will look forward to your art journal video.
DeleteOooo, my Mum is a card maker and she would love this video. I'll make sure she sees it. And I hear you, resting and doing something for the pleasure of it is something I've had to learn (and relearn) over the years. To just be with no real 'purpose' was hard for me.
ReplyDeleteThanks Melissa. Would love to see some of your mum's cards. And so true, doing things with no purpose is truly hard.
DeleteOh how I enjoyed this. I make cards from time to time. I was an avid scrapbooker too. I made ones for all our family. Creating in this way and via paints, marker and the like is one way I spend my day. I did not really embrace craft for myself till the last few years!
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking up for #lifethisweek. Next week's optional prompt is Share Your Snaps 5. A 'show off your photos' post! Denyse
Thanks Denyse. Glad you enjoyed my vlog. I will drop by again and link up to #lifethisweek.
DeleteThe card does look lovely!
ReplyDeleteI too prefer art, as well as books, music or going out for a walk and find these very therapeutic. :)
Thanks Shilpa. I think music and walking are common themes.
DeleteI love making cards too...at other times, reading and walking are also things I love doing. Vlog sounds interesting. Might give it a shot one day. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Esha will look forward to your vlogs. Thanks for visiting
DeleteWhat a beautiful card you made, Suzy! And it looked pretty easy. But I am sure if I try I would make a million mistakes. I like trying my hands on crafts though I'm not really good at it. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Vinitha. Glad you liked it. I think we all feel the same - that we aren't really good until we try.
