Writing From The Heart

Written for: The Write Tribe Tips for Writers

Dear Friend

Today I thought I would share with you my views on writing with the hope that it will inspire you to keep writing or take up writing if you haven't started.

Write from your heart because when you do that, you write with passion and those that read can feel that passion.

Keep your posts short. Sometimes we have a lot to say but long posts can be draining for the reader. If you do have a lot to say, break them down into 2 or 3 posts.

There are those that will like what you write and those who won't. You can't please everyone so please yourself instead and you are sure to please some others.

Every where you go you'll see the Don'ts and Do's for writing. My view is, cultivate your own style and forget about those Do's and Don'ts. It's not in keeping with the norm that extraordinary things are born!

Personally I like real life stories rather than fiction. Real stories have a depth to them that fiction somehow lacks. And this quote sums that up very nicely:

My ideas usually come not at my desk writing but in the midst of living.
~ Anais Nin

And in keeping with my own advise, I will keep this short and end with these words:

Have fun when you write so you can enjoy those moments and from that enjoyment will come the passion. Look forward to reading yours.

Be inspired, Stay inspired, Inspire someone.

Warm Regards

Innocence

She was proud of the cake she had created and hoped that she would win the prize that would help towards Charlie's future education.

Little Charlie wished with all his heart she would win for he knew that would make her happy.

She watched in horror as he climbed the stool, grabbed a piece in his little fist.

"It's the best cake I've ever eaten mom and I know you'll win the prize" he said, his cake smeared little face and his radiant eyes looking at her with joy and innocence.

Even though her heart sank, she took him into her arms and gave him a hug, her heart filled with love.

Body Parts Tell A Story

It's not necessary to see eye to eye with others on every matter.

And you won't get egg on your face for standing up and making your point.

But that point should be made in the relevant moment. Don't drag your feet otherwise the purpose is lost.

But be aware that some don't take kindly to contradictions.

So keep your ear to the ground and use that gut feel as it is a great guide and friend.

One that could prevent you from getting a kick in the teeth.

A to Z Challenge Reflections

Reflections on the April 2014 A to Z Challenge

I always enter these monthly challenges with some trepidation. After all a month of daily blogging is a big commitment. But once it starts I always have a good time.

Some of the things I learned from the challenge:
  • Having a theme was helpful. I also liked the flow from post to post.
  • Writing and scheduling posts in advance allowed me to read and comment on other blogs.
  • Joining up with some AtoZ groups on facebook helped in keeping the interest and momentum going. I think if I didn't have the support of these awesome groups, I would probably hesitate to participate in the challenge again.

Some regrets:
  • Unfortunately with the best of intentions, I was unable to write and schedule all posts in advance so towards the end I was writing daily and that made reading other blogs, commenting and replying quite difficult.
  • I would've liked to read way more blogs and I did try to visit many AtoZ participants but there were over 2000 blogs and that would be just impossible to visit. But here is the link to all the participants in case you'd like to drop by and check them out:  AtoZ Challenge participants

As always, featuring blogs was a great joy. Check out the blogs I featured:

My theme this year was  Life's Jigsaw (a spiritual series). I enjoyed writing this one immensely though it wasn't an easy one to do.

And last but not least thanks to Arlee Bird  who is the mastermind behind this challenge. What a great way to discover some new blogs. I look forward to the next A to Z challenge.
