ABC Wednesday - G is for ....

My choice for G is

Georgie Girl  by the Seekers.

Georgie Girl was written by Tom Springfield and Jim Dale and released in 1966 by the Seekers. It is the title song for the film of the same name.

It was a No1 Australian hit, No3 on the British charts and No2 in the US on the Billboard Hot 100.

I enjoyed listening to the Seekers and Georgie Girl was a kind of "me" song. Whenever I listen to this song it's like they're describing me!

It has a nice happy tune too.

And my Bollywood choice this week is

Gata Rahe Mera Dil from the movie Guide starring Waheeda Rehman and Dev Anand.
Singers - Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar.

Waheeda Rehman is so graceful and so beautiful.

When I was little, we used to vacation each summer in Mahableshwar. And on one of those vacations, Dev Anand was at the same hotel as us - in fact in the room next door to us. He was very friendly and charming.

Forget Dev Anand, wait till you meet me (LOL). Never heard the first song but know the second quite well (smile). Perhaps we can sing the second song together....are you smiling or laughing?? I am!!

    1. Hi Roger, must be a "Seekers" day. I'll never find another you was one of my favourite numbers.

  4. Georgy Girl sure brought back a lot of memories, Suzy. The Seekers were a part of my growing years. Judith Durham (I think that is her name) has the most beautiful voice, as far as I'm concerned. Now you're an Aussie girl too!

    1. Hi Corinne, yep The Seekers were part of my growing years too - I belted out each song with them and at school for our singing class we often sang "A world of our own" and "I'll never find another you". Those classes were so much fun. Agree, Judith Durham's voice is just Divine. Well I'm not quite Aussie - Kiwi actually - close though :)
